This was really different than the description led me to believe, a lot more serious. I hated both main characters.

I picked this up totally by chance - I think it was a freebie from Amazon first reads and I honestly never expect too much from those. I really enjoyed this one though! I thought it was a sweet read that was ultimately uplifting, although it touches on dark subjects.

This is a story that is either about coincidences or relies way too heavily on coincidences. Jonathan N Grief finds a diary with a year planned out in it. He tries to find out whom it belongs to, but ends up following all of the advice in it. This advice prevents him from finding out whom it belongs to several times. It's essentially a love story, but you don't get much relationship building at all. Most of the story is about Jonathan following the diary and Hannah looking for her boyfriend. I really liked most of this book, but found a lot of parts of it horribly predictable and it didn't really take any amazing turns that I didn't see coming way in advance. Still it was a pleasant read, and I enjoyed it.

⚠️ Triger warning: this book deals with topics of terminal illness, suicide and loss of loved ones.
Now that the important stuff is out of the way, I have a bone to pick with the readers who mark this book as "feel good" or "holiday cheer read"... What is wrong with you?
A girl thinks her bf is about to propose, instead he tells her he's dying and soon proceeds to commit suicide. She goes on an extremely selfish desperation binge and later on finds love in the man that partially ruined her bf's dreams and in the meantime rediscovered himself by living his best life following a diary written for the dead guy? I mean...
On top of that, either the translator was overzealous with the thesaurus or the author themselves used tedious language at times...
Anyways, the idea of finding a random planner and having the privilege to follow its suggestions and turning your life for the better is cute, but the overall execution of the book was disappointing.

There were parts of this book that I just couldn’t put it down. It started slowly, even with the big event. Hannah’s cheeriness was almost too much for me. Jonathan N. Grief. I had really hoped this would be more about the books.

3.5/5. A little dry at times and a little slow, but all in all not bad. Not sure if there’s translation issues that made it feel a bit rough at times though.

Expected to go into this as a romance but didn't quite come out that way. It does have romance but definitely deals with heavier topics. TW for death of a loved one. Interesting story telling and not a bad read.
