This book gets an A!!!
I just finished this book and the one word that can describe how I feel at the moment is satisfied. I can't think of a single thing missing from this book, it was complete perfection. Renee Carlino has written another beautiful romance with characters that imprint themselves into your being.
This story actually came across more like a movie to me, and I think that's because Renee writes such vivid scenes that are multidimensional and multifaceted. I've never been to Napa or Chicago, but these cities were so vivid, they jumped off the page. I could feel the tranquility of a Napa vineyard, and I could experience the grittiness and frost of Chicago in the winter. Amazing!
The imagery only made the characters that much more believable to me. I saw a lot of myself in Kate. I'm realizing that this author has a thing for STUBBORN heroines. Kate is as fearful of love and heartache as the rest of us, and seeing her struggle to accept love hit me on a personal level. I think that anyone can identify with her insecurities. Jamie was the sexy, mysterious man that Kate needed to open up to in order to embrace love, in order LIVE. Jamie and Kate's love was soul deep, and their journey left me full of hope and inspiration.
I don't mean to get too philosophical about love and all that mushy stuff, but if you're feeling a little down, or leaning towards skepticism, I'd recommend you read this book. Sometimes you just need a beautiful love story with a happily ever after to brighten your day! Buy it!

I cannot remember the last time I was so unsatisfied with a book. I can be easily pleased in my romances. I truly enjoy from the good heart gripping stories to the light, silly love stories that are just to relax. THIS was just PLAIN FRUSTRATING. Frustrating mostly because the writing was actually good, I mean you really feel the Napa ambiance and the richness of the description but the storyline, complete ridiculousness. I have heard the term cheese before. I love cheese, I really do, you can ask any of my friends but THIS, THIS was plain and rotten cheese. I mean you figure out almost everything before 20% of the book.
First issue is the fact that the story is insta-love. I am telling you, less than a whole week and these two were heavily in love with each other. Don't get me wrong, Jamie is adorably charming, sweet and smart. The man works in a vineyard so we know what's under those dirty clothes. That's all great but yet, less than a week... come on. Kate was ok for 48% of the book. After that I wanted to MURDER HER! Seriously, I have never felt this violent towards a heroine ever, but she deserved a good punch in the gut. She jumps to the most ridiculous conclusions, doesn't even give him the chance to explain and just decides to do whatever regardless of anyone else's feelings. Her 20 year old boy neighbor had more common sense then she did. She irritated to the point that I preferred to STUDY than to listen to her crazy, ridiculous thoughts. You barely get to have any interaction with secondary characters except maybe her neighbor so you were mostly stuck with her. She just went from being crazy, to crazier to dead on insane. After they reconcile things were not as unbearable because Jamie was in the picture but no I was just so annoyed. It had so much potential to be an interesting story but it was just a lot of ridiculous situations, one after the other.
Another thing, I'm all for helping those who need it, but going to serve food at a shelter on the first date, no honey no, let's get to know each other better before we serve in the community as a couple please. At least the worst is over. I just wanted to warn the next reader of what they were getting into. Insta- love, crazy and preposterous heroine with serious emotional issues and lack of climax.

I love this book from Renee. Kate goes on quite a journey to find herself. She’s assigned to write an article on the elusive RJ Lawson. Things don’t go the best. What happens next is a whirlwind. That twist! The hea is wonderful.

This woman can write no wrong! I'm so in love with her writing. Another favorite.

I would give this 3.5 stars. The reason is even though it was a cute story, I figured out the plot to soon. Nothing really surprised me and I did not feel a strong connection to the characters. All in all it still was a good read.

*Sigh* I was hesitant to read this because I wasn't sure if it could live up to her first book, Sweet Thing, which was amazing. 48 hours later with minimal sleep, I can happily say that Nowhere but Here was just as good. I can't pinpoint if it's her style of writing or the fact that Kate was so easy to relate with (probably both) but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Oh, and the references to Will and Mia were fantastic! Definitely worth the read!

Oh my! Is this book seriously by the same author that wrote "Swear on this Life"!!!??? I couldn't get past the chapter after Kate met Jamie. It was so unbelievable! It felt like a 100 page novella I was reading. No thanks! Did Not Finish!
