I loved this Mafia come MC book!
Ryan and Alex make the perfect couple.
Lots of twists and turns.
I can't wait to read the next one

This book was kind of hard to rate/review. I felt it had a lot of potential to be a really good book, with lots of build of, then kind of fell short for me in the end.

Ride, is about Alex a 19 year old, privileged, sheltered Italian Mob daughter princess living in Brooklyn. Despite all that, she's not blind to the reality around her. She makes a mistake during a violent night, and because of it her life is now in danger, from her own family no less. With no one else to turn to she is whisked away by a new branch of family she has never known, and now under the protection of the FORSAKEN Motorcycle club. Thrust into a completely new and unknown world that's is completely different from whats she's grown up with. She's instantly drawn to member Ryan, who of coarse is deemed off limits from the start. Through out it all neither one of them can deny the pull they feel towards each other, regardless of how the club and everyone else feels about them getting close. Ryan is determined to keep Alex at arms length, not wanting to let her in. but still cant stay away from her.

I must say from the beginning my interest was piqued. To read about two different world kind of colliding was interesting. It's the type of story where you can just tell there's more juicy dirt you need to uncover. All the while you're kind of pulling for Ryan. hoping he'll pull his head out of his ass soon and start acting like a real man. I have to say he is NOT your typical hero. He's an ASS!! Seriously this guy is crude, and emotionally detached, and just kind of stupid. I know that's how he's supposed to be, and whole premise around there love, is that Alex will make him a better man, but....REALLY He more of less treats her like garbage, and she's so on the hook for him, that any time he flashes her a smile, shes right back in his hands. I think I might have been more forgiving to his character, had we got more of an ending. There was a lot of build up, for this show down, and of coarse for these two kids to fall in love. Alas, it was pretty anti-climatic and felt rushed. We have like 250 pages of Ryan being this total d-bag (I mean there's "BAD BOY" then these this guy ya know??), and after Alex has a life threatening scare (that was really cut short and again...anti-climatic) he succumbs to her admitting his love, and that's more or less the end. We don't to actually see any of them being good together or each other which for me was kind of a let down considering the genre of this book.

I've been told the second book [b:Thrash|18730386|Thrash (Bayonet Scars, #2)|J.C. Emery|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1385971915s/18730386.jpg|26604322] is worth checking out, so I may give it a go. though I know its about another couple (we know of from Ride) I'm hoping maybe I will get a little more insight to Alex and Ryan.

It was a quick good read, but not one of my favorites. if you like biker romances, and a tattooed bad boy (ass hat) then this could be a good one for you to pick up.

Thoughts: Read this forever ago, really enjoyed this!!

4 wild RIDE stars!!!!

This book started with a bang for me. Completely enthralled, completely invested by the second chapter.
I may have even messaged the author to tell her how I was feeling about the book as it went on.

Put it this way. There was a whole lot of "What the f*ck is happening?" circling my brain, none of it being a bad thing, trust me.

This book was fast paced and action packed. I truly enjoyed my time reading it.

The lead female, Alex, has been thrown so deep, so far away from everything she knows and is comfortable to her. Watching her find her way in her new (and free) world is just awesome.

The lead male, Ryan, is not the sweetheart we all want to take home to mama. In saying that, watching his character develop and come to terms with his feeling was completely FRUSTRATING at time, but more so, really fulfilling.

Suddenly, I find myself at 98% and it felt as though the story just ENDED!! I was a bit confused by this until I saw this is not the only book in this series.

I cant wait to read the next one, as I feel a bit of a mess not knowing more about how things will turn out for Ryan and Alex!!

Well written, easy to follow and engaging. Well done, Ms Emery!!!

Which is better Leather or Armani???

Alexandro Mancuso has been raised as the Princess in the Mancuso Crime family. Her father is suffocating her and she has a choice to make which will change her life.

Her aunt rescues her but thrust her into the Forsaken Motorcycle Club. The club members are off limits. They can be friends but not lovers. Ryan Stone has other ideas.

This book was fantastic and I would recommend it.

Mob Princess, meet the bad ass MC. MC, meet the Mob Princess and her ten tons of baggage. The reason and threads that bring these two entities together make for a great book! Can't wait for more.

Slight cliffy in this, but nothing you can't handle!

A raw and gritty read. The characters and storyline are written fairly well although some of the story felt rushed or needed more. Overall an engaging read that's worth reading.

This was disappointing. It had good recommendation and the first two or three chapters were good. But, the more I read the less I liked really any of the men in the Forsaken MC. Ryan has no redeeming qualities. He's an ass that moves from one club lost girl to another and back to Alex in the same day, even going so far as talking to Alex on the phone while getting a BJ from one of them. Dick! And Alex? Moves from a bad situation with the family to a worse situation with the MC. She's weak, has no self respect and seems incapable of making a decision on her own. I like MC stories, they don't even have to end pretty, but they should at least have characters you can root for and I didn't find a single one of those in this book.

I’m not sure if MC novels are right for me. After reading several of them, I still have mixed feelings and Ride further adds to this.

Let’s start with what I liked:
The relationship between Alex and Ryan – I liked that while there was instant attraction here there was no insalove (Thank God). Emery does a good job of building things up between these two and the tension is awesome.

Duke – He’s such a charming bad boy and aside from the one time he was an asshole to Alex, how could you not like him? I actually liked him more than Ryan and was happy to see that he gets his own book: [b:Thrash|18730386|Thrash (Bayonet Scars, #2)|J.C. Emery|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1385971915s/18730386.jpg|26604322]

The plotline/story – this had the perfect amount of drama to keep me engaged without making me want to tear my eyes out. The climax might have been somewhat predictable but predictability is not always a bad thing.

Now on to what I didn’t like:
The relationship between Alex and Ryan – I realize this is contradictory to the above so bear with me. Aside from the slow build up, Alex and Ryan’s relationship in two simple words is Fucked Up. And I think that is my biggest problem with MC novels. Ryan treats Alex like a piece of goddamn garbage
Spoilerespecially the first time they have sex
and yet, she still somehow manages to want him and ultimately fall in love with him. The guys in MC novels can be the biggest dicks to their women but its ‘okay’ because it’s part of club life. The guy can treat the girl like shit in public but behind closed doors she can lay into him. What kind of messed up logic is that? Last I checked, we were in the 21st century and if my husband treated me like Ryan treated Alex, he would no longer have his dick.

Ryan – Now, I’m all about a guy being an asshole. Some of my favorite books are with male leads that are complete, total and utter douche bags. However, Ryan’s kind of douche baggery I could not tolerate.

Alex – I couldn’t help but find her a whiney and annoying. I felt like every other page she was crying or on the verge. For someone that grew up in the mob you think she’d have thicker skin. Sadly that is not the case.

I think if it wasn’t for Ryan’s assholishness and Alex’s whininess, I probably would have given this 4 stars. Like I said, even given my complaints I still managed to enjoy the story. This is evident in the fact that I decided to read Duke’s novel ([b:Thrash|18730386|Thrash (Bayonet Scars, #2)|J.C. Emery|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1385971915s/18730386.jpg|26604322]) and am so far enjoying that much more.

Ride by JC Emery is the first book in her Bayonet Scars series, and the introduction into a world that has immense potential. I am a huge fan of the motorcycle/biker club trope that is so huge right now in the contemporary romance genre, so I immediately gravitated toward this book. From the cover, to the synopsis, I knew I had to read Ride.

I loved the premise of the story and the world that Ms. Emery created. Alex is the daughter of a mafia boss and stuck living a life that is not for her. She wants to make her own decisions, live her life the way she wants, not the way someone has decided for her. After making a snap decision, her life is changed forever, thrusting her into a world completely foreign to her. Explosive family secrets will be revealed and lives will be forever altered.

I have to admit that throughout the book, I struggled to connect with the characters. Alex at times seemed very immature and childish; Ryan was a complete asshole, which I don’t normally mind as long as there is some type of redemption or explanation as to why - I didn’t feel that was achieved; Ruby is extremely odd and, given what’s revealed, I assumed that there would be more warmth from her character. Combine this with a plot that felt disjointed, as well as an abrupt ending, and the story fell a little flat and left me disappointed.

Overall, Ride was a good read that could have been amazing. I think the potential for this series is huge but only with a tighter, better developed, plot for each book. Will I read the next book…yes, I am extremely interested in where the story goes from here.
