This book was so, so good. It was just like a campy, horror movie, which I absolutely loved. A bunch of pals heading to a remote cabin? A classic set up but was so well done. The details about the creatures, about their hunger and aversion to light, was super intriguing. I love the way the author would add other characters just to show how desperate and violent these creatures were and how they were just picking folks off left and right. This book had me on the edge of my seat and is probably one of my favorite creature feature stories I’ve read yet!

This one really dragged on for me, I put it down and picked it back up at least 3 times. There was a lot of focus on the relationships of the characters and less emphasis on the monsters lurking in the trees until over halfway through the book. It took a while to get to the action, but when it finally did, I couldn’t put it down. It was filled with gore and brutal imagery, I found the monsters to be quite creepy. I loved the ending, it had a true horror vibe to it.

Words can’t describe how much i loved this book, the characters, the twists, that claustrophobic feeling that set in the longer i read? Chefs kiss! I love this author and i can’t wait to read more from her!
