The next book in the Cotton Malone series. I enjoy this series and this was no exception.

Awesome

Another Cotton that I loved, congratulations Steve Berry you did it again. Can't wait to see Cottons next adventure, looking forward to it.

As I was writing my PRO/CON list, I realized that this book had way more cons than pros. Let us begin:

CONS:
-I didn’t read it for 2 years because I thought it was 100% historical fiction, which, despite being a history major, I find abhorrent
-not enough good guys die for this to be believable
-unrealistically portrays politicians as moral beings
-doesn’t have enough racist old men. Because let’s be real, the society that bore the KKK would have SO many racist old men
-Cotton just happened to be taught every skill needed to complete the mission-no matter how obscure
-Secret Gov contract service sounds like a condom brand

Probably one of the better books in the Cotton Malone Series.

Do yourself a favor and get the audiobook version of this that has the author’s notes. Steve Berry himself pops in at the end of almost every chapter to give you some behind the scenes info as well as reading end note he always shares about separating the facts from the fiction of his story. I love this special element to the audio version!

I love the series, but this book was just a chore to get through. I almost stopped entirely on several different occasions. I didn't find the content interesting, and am sick to death of politics after this past election cycle. Danny Daniels is also so terribly annoying, and a large part of the narrative.

This book was most enjoyable. Treasure hunting, murder, political maneuvering, love, and history; all things that make a story interesting. Great book.
