It was fun while it lasted. But wishing to have their appendixes out too? Um, no.

I missed this when I was adding old books I read, so I got this book to re-read to be sure. I did read this as a child where I distinctly remember laughing over and over again at Madeline saying 'Pooh-Pooh' to the tiger at the zoo. Funny thing is, both the kids laugh at that same line to this day.

This was a Newbery Honor book which shows you how awards boards can get things wrong. This is still one of the most popular books and it should have won, which is why they gave Madeline to the rescue the Medal when it came out to make up for their miss, I assume.

A beloved classic of mine. It's nice to share with a whole new generation. Maybe this is where my France obsession came from. probably a seed planted.

This was cute and all, but I'm not sure I get all the fuss about it.

This is one of the first books where she was able to identify a character's feelings ("oh no baby cryin!") so we've gone back to this well many times. We try to say "smile when they feel good and frown when they feel bad" to work on feelings being more personal.
lighthearted medium-paced
Loveable characters: Yes

I grew up on this book and loved it back then. This hasn't changed even 25 years later. I read it again recently and adored the old pictures as well as rhymes used. I really enjoyed it all over again. A fun tale of twelve little girls in two straight lines and their teacher Miss Lavell. I was dragged back in to the story with new eyes.

Favorite picture book!!!

Me gustó este libro, pero esperaba más.
Es una historia tierna y ágil.
Destaco sin duda las maravillosas ilustraciones, muy estilo parisino.

I don't remember reading this as a child. Perhaps I would have enjoyed it more as a little girl. As an adult, I thought the pictures were ok, but not particularly interesting, and sometimes the uneven rhyme scheme really distracted me. Not one of my favorites.
