I remember hearing this story read aloud many times when I was in primary school, and reading it silently to myself as an adult I could still hear that rhyming narrative voice strongly. What I liked even more were the illustrations, making good use of the simple technique of a few simple strokes to make twelve smiley faced girls in two straight lines...

It was lovely to reread this picture book.

I read this for the "Set In A Country You've Never Visited Before" part of my 2020 reading challenge. Definitely a classic, I remember watching the show growing up. The artwork in this wasn't quite my style, but I liked how at the end it listed all the famous sites in Paris that were shown on each page.

This is one of my childhood favorites. This may be strange. Even as a child, I had a sense there was something going on between Madeline and Pepito. I felt they had a thing going on. You know, "Romantically". What the hell is wrong with me! Is that just me? They were kids and yet I could sense something. I loved the French story and the all the girls and their quirks. It's a cute story. I used to adore the cartoon too. Yeah. Sometimes I just want to take my head off, I'm so fucked up.

Geez, I love this book. Wonderfully illustrated, and it still gives me such feels!
