This story just keeps getting better. I'm amazed (and incredibly disappointed) the television adaptation ended the series right before the story line took off!
This book continues to fascinate. We get a lot of alien things... The strange repair robots and the "undead", the continued lost time and what it might mean, a strange diamond in an uncharted world, Duarte's strange condition, and changes to the ring space... And I'm so excited to see what comes in the final book.
Every character view point was impactful in this one, from Teresa, to Elvi, to Naomi and on... The underground continues their fight against Laconia, the powerful ruling state. We lose Bobbie. The loss of Duarte is a blow to Laconia as they flounder to keep up with the changes in the ring space. The battle at the end was thrilling.

This is one of the best books in the series. Gut-wrenching, tense, amazing array of characters, old and new, intense conflicts, and driving hope in the face of insurmountable odds. So good.
Genuinely a fantastic read, the best book I've read this year, and an incredible entry into the series.
Being the penultimate book in the Expanse, this book serves really well too wrap up several characters' arcs as well as set up for a truly epic ending to the series.
The characterization we get between characters in this book is truly next level, even after having spent so much time with these characters. The plot is also fast-paced and stays surprising with twists and turns throughout. This book has fantastic highs and devastating emotional low points. Easy 5.0
