I liked the idea of the story and some parts were creepy, but overall I struggled to finish it.
It was missing that real horror feeling of having some evil entity control your thoughts, even if that entity is a pig. The ending felt very lacking, like it was incomplete or just not well fleshed out.
I loved Bird Box, so I am pretty disappointed by this one.

A horror book about a telepathic pig? Yes please. This was a pleasant surprise and the writing style really worked for me. I had that feeling of stress and dread the entire time and was loving it.
((4.5 star read))
UMMMMMM.... Josh Malerman actually scaring me a little bit?? I liked Bird Box & Malorie but this blew them out of the water sansda (sans doubt; without a doubt)... Who thought a telepathic homicidal pig would be horrific without the need to be too absurd!
And while it was absurd (as it deserved to be), it did not rely on camp to keep the momentum going. In fact, up until the very end, I was on the edge of my seat. This would be a perfect summer read if you are looking for something to occupy a day to just binge! Sing for Pearl!!
