This is the conclusion to Raihn and Oraya’s story. I wasn’t a huge fan of book one, but since it ended on a cliffhanger, I decided to continue with this book. Unfortunately, I felt like the story dragged in places and became repetitive at times.
One of my biggest disappointments was Oraya. The strength and badass energy that made me love her in book one felt diminished here, and she never really got it back. I’m also still confused about Raihn’s connection to Nessanyn—his backstory didn’t add much clarity, nor did it fully explain his actions and ultimate betrayal from book one.
To note, I did the audiobooks, which may have affected my experience. The narration made it difficult to follow at times since the voices weren’t distinct between characters. I think this story would have been more enjoyable in duet or full-cast format.
Eventually, I do plan to give this duology another chance—this time by reading the books instead of listening—when I’m back in the mood for fantasy.

start and end were alright but the middle was boring! and they were trying so hard to push the enemies to lovers arc but quite clearly they were never enemies so that was just tiresome. it also just ended way too neatly and too easily.
