This story unfortunately mimics another I have read by Coben – Stranger – in terms of both characters & story. The lead is a white, middle-class man whose pretty, blonde wife is indisposed. There is a strong female investigator we meet after a reeling from a marriage loss. There is a murderous, rampaging hitman working on secretive orders from a rich, equally secretive male type. Now we get to the spoilers.
The lead male finds out the secrets of the whole story, piecing it together & comes through the other side with physical or psychological scarring & has at least at one point, doubted the paternal genealogy of his children. The main difference between the stories is the sprinkling of fratricide. Although I grant that this is a good book, I had high hopes and was sadly left with those hopes unmet. However, if this is your first Coben book, I will recommend him highly as an author, I just hope that this copying is just a once-off act.
Thanks,
Luke A. Rigby

My first Harlan Coben! It's a ripper of a story, with increasingly dark and twisty turns. The imaginations authors have to always come up with a new way of telling a story and keep us surprised and glued right till the very last page. Simon is a successful financial consultant living in New York, married to medical professional Ingrid. They have three late teens/early 20s children. Paige has become the problem child, randomly going off the rails while at college, becoming a drug addict and disappearing, much to her father's intense distress. He sees her one day, living the homeless life, in Central Park, with her drug addict drop kick boyfriend. A confrontation ensues which unleashes a series of catastrophic events. At the same time a young couple are cruising through the US on some sort of assignment randomly assassinating what appear to be harmless law abiding men, all unconnected with each other. It's so good! Now I am hooked on this writer. So many titles to choose from!

Simon Greene , a financial adviser , and his wife Ingrid, a pediatrician have three children. His daughter, Paige is a drug addict who ran away from home and while trying to bring Paige back her boyfriend thwarts Simon’s efforts and Paige manages to escape. Soon a murder occurs which makes Paige either a suspect or in extreme danger. Simon and Ingrid race against time to save Paige but they might be fighting for their own safety too.
Run Away by Harlan Coben is a fast moving action packed thriller with a few good twists and turns that make it an enjoyable read
I would like to thank Grand Central Publishing & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Just when you think things are explained, Harlan adds another twist, and then another. Coben does it again!!

Sweet lord above this was a labour of love. This is the first Harlan Coben book I've read and honestly probably the last! It took me so long to get through this book because it was so easy to put down and not pick back up again!! I don't know whether that's because of my mindset or the book itself but I didn't find this book particularly enjoyable. I didn't think there was any big twists or shocks or anything surprising and the end felt so rushed, like we slogged through 300 odd pages just for everything to be hastily wrapped up in the last few pages!!

It was fine. There were a few annoying points and I figured out the Big Twist about 2/3 through it - but it still held a few surprises. Overall, fine.

My first Harlan Coben book. It was a true nail biter, edge of your seat, hold your breath until the end kind of book.
