Chapters about Holmes were mildly interesting, but architecture thread was an absolute snooze fest. Skipped last half of architecture chapters and Holmes' resolution proved predictable.

Fascinating and well-researched. I was particularly impressed with his endnotes, where he explained where he got his information and how he came about some of the books assertions.

What a crazy story, as always, Larson delivers history in a way that you can't put down.
Started off slowly, but turned out to be a good read. Makes me want to go back to Chicago and see sites mentioned in the book. It was interesting to hear how many things originated at the 1893 World's Fair that are commonplace today. The murder bits were stranger than fiction *shudder*.

I choose this book because I wanted a deep dive into HH Holmes, little did I know that the beauty of this book is all about the history of Chicago. I was mesmerized by the story of the world’s fair. I 100% want to visit Chicago to do a deeper dive. Love it.
