Quick light read with a bit of mystery thrown in for fun. One thing that was hard for me was the use of the word "totally" - I searched it and in the 209 pages registered by my Kindle, the word was used 90 times. Which felt even more frequent because it was used mostly by Toby and his POV. There isn't a lot of detail about supernaturals, but the banter was fun and it was an easy read so I'll probably continue the series at least to the next book.

Entertaining and fun, with hot spicy times and lots of paranormal fun. I enjoy it more every time I read it! Toby is so adorably socially awkward. He's a writer and honestly, I relate to him, haha. Dex is a bit of a himbo-ish hellhound, clueless about humans, but he's so gone for his human Toby. It's adorable. I really love this series, my god.

This felt light and fluffy, despite the story being about justice-killer hellhounds and the humans who love them. I liked the insta-lust turning into insta-love, especially because it often stays pretty surface. But Toby and Dexter were in L-O-V-E and it was incredibly sweet and adorable.

It fit the bill as a nice between book for me, following a heavier (read: depressing) fantasy. I didn’t want anything too sad or too complex which made this a great option. We didn’t get a lot of back story for anyone here, and the villain was pretty anonymous, so I wasn’t overly invested.

I have a mixed relationship with magical creature awakenings too. I love when the humans don’t freak out, but I kinda want them to? I’d be so happy if they actually lived amongst us, but how are these people so oblivious? It’s complicated for me.

Toby is a paranormal MM romance author in the midst of writing his newest book and when asking questions such as "can someone die from having their fingers severed" he doesn't expect his hot next-door neighbour Dexter to actually answer... so now Toby is concerned he lives next door to a serial killer..  but Dex is only a Hellhound who can hear really well, smell rotting human souls that are bound for hell (and Toby when he is horny but thats neither here nor there), is super strong, fast and is shirtless a lot thanks to needing to burn his clothes with his hellfire after deleting said hell bound souls from earth. It's definitely not something Toby needs to worry about. When Toby is targeted by a stalker Dexters protective instincts kick in, and the story goes from there.

This was such a great, doesn't take itself too seriously read. It's very insta lust/love, but with it being paranormal and the mates trope being utilised, it worked. This is a quirky urban paranormal romance with good humour, interesting characters, easy world building, and low angst with a sprinkling of good spice, too. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Alexander Cendese & Iggy Toma and I adore these two together. They each fit their character well, and their delivery on the humour had me chuckling. This was my first book by this author, and if you go into this not taking it too seriously, you will have a blast. I had a really fun time with it and will definitely be continuing this series. 🌶🌶

"I think my neighbour is a serial killer," I whispered, peeking out from behind the drapes to the house next door. "Toby, are you writing dark romances again?" Josh sighed.
"And," I added, ignoring his long-suffering tone,
"I think his eyes glowed red the other night.
"So it's paranormal dark romances, then," he
grumbled."

"Yesterday, Toby had been asking his PA how many fingers a person could lose before they bled to death. I put on safety glasses, picked up the handheld saw, and went to work to find out the answer to his question."

"I would not allow the dream vision I'd had the
other day to become a reality. Toby would not be kidnapped by some psycho stalker. I was the only psycho stalker he needed in his life. I realized that was a bit unhinged, but oh well.
He had the protection of a hellhound, whether he wanted it or not."

"Ok, so I had a stalker. That sucked. But I also had Sexy Neighbour looking out for me and kissing me. So that was a plus."

"Somehow, my sweet, cute neighbour had become more important to me than I thought possible, and I didn't know what I would do if something happened to him. I pitied any fool who tried to harm him. I would burn them and everything they held dear down to protect my Toby."

"The last thing I wanted was Sexy Neighbour to get eaten by the local werewolf (unless he was the local werewolf, in which case-lucky me)"

How to Flirt with a Hellhound is the perfect book for anyone looking to get into the Halloween spirit. One might hesitate to call this book “cozy” considering one of the MCs is a hellhound serial killer who enjoys torturing people who have rotten souls, but I’m not one of those people. This book was definitely a cozy read for me, hahaha. This was SUCH a fun (and funny) book, with lots of cute and sweet moments (in that possessive, stalkers way), but also filled with excitement! I couldn’t put this down, and there wasn’t a single moment that felt like it dragged. I’m already loving all the side characters, so I’m excited to see where the other books in this series go!
