MMhhhmMmmm what is this brilliance? fucking hell, this is one of my favourite books from now on. all the characters had depth and were adequately complex. i loved how easy it was to get into rem's head. he was a decently written, relatable character. the interesting part of the book was Franklin himself. he reminded me of kevin from We Need To Talk About Kevin. they're similar characters but i suppose rem's mom was doing to him was wrong. it was wrong. kevin was born a sociopath/psychopath but franklin was turned a psychopath because rem's mom thought it would yield a productive result if she turned it on and off like a switch.
there's also the very important (and obvious) message about bullying. bullying has harsh consequences and we should be good, not nice, but good to people. the "review" is very rambly because it ain't a review. these are just my thoughts.

DNF. The main concept of this book is definitely intriguing and worth exploring and the writing is good, however a little over halfway through I just didn't want to finish it. The subject matter and the way it's handled was too uncomfortable at times for me and not in the ways that I think the author intended for it to be. I couldn't get passed some of the character stereotypes and unrealistic reactions either. Just not for me.
