B.A. Paris has a way of writing that hooks me in immediately and doesn't let go. This story follows Amelie in a dual timeline. In part 1, we see what leads to her abduction, and then see how she handles being a prisoner. This part was really well done. It felt claustrophobic at times, which was perfect. Amelie is likeable and I loved how she is fleshed out over time. Part 2 is the aftermath of it all; how does Amelie cope with everything that has happened to her. Honestly, this part is kind of over the top and it's essential to suspend your disbelief. And yet, I enjoyed every single page.

I’ve read every one of B.A. Paris’ books. I enjoyed this one as I did the others. This book was not as suspenseful as “Behind Closed Doors or The Breakdown, but it still grabbed my attention the whole way through. The character was younger than the normal lead characters in her books. She was smart, strong and beautifully vulnerable. I was 80/20 happy about the ending. 80 being the happy/content part. The author stuck to her authentic type of writing leaving a plot twist at the end. That’s probably why I can accept it. Paris is consistent. I thought for sure the storyline was going to go an absolute different way. That’s what I love about Paris’ books. You are always guessing. 99% of the time her endings are what you least expect as the outcome
Moderate: Bullying, Death, Emotional abuse, Physical abuse, Toxic relationship, Kidnapping, Grief, Murder
I really enjoyed Behind Closed Doors but his other books didnt live up to the that book until....
The Prisoner is full of suspense and is filled with alot of twists. I was a bit claustrophobic while reading as i felt i was a prisoner alongside Amalie. Thats how good the writing is.
the end of the story left me unsatisfied. Alot was not answered.
B.A.Paris has another bestseller on his hands.

After her father’s death, Amelie moves to London to start a new life on her own. She meets Caroline, who takes her in, gives her a job, introduces her to her friends, and gives her a new sense of family. Through them she’s introduced to Ned, a wealthy businessman. But when Amelie and Ned are kidnapped, she fears what type of situation she’s put herself into, and now has to fight for her life.
Through the usual twists and turns, BA Paris presents a captivating story. What fell apart for me was the ending. I enjoyed Behind Closed Doors and the twists throughout, but I had higher hopes for this one. I thought about so many possibilities that could have happened, and the actual result fell a little flat for me.
Overall, it was still an enjoyable story, but I felt like there could’ve been more.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
I was immediately drawn into this book from the start all the way through to the end! This is my first book from B.A. Paris and I'll definitely be trying more.
Amelie has been in survival mode for most of her life. This book is mainly focused on her marriage to a billionaire that turns way deadlier and more dangerous than she could have imagined when she is kidnapped and locked in a dark room for weeks because of her husband's unsavory dealings.
Again, this book had me hooked the whole way through. It was somewhat awkward when about 75% of the way through I thought the book was wrapping up but it just kept going. The ending wasn't bad, I just didn't super love how it was executed. I recommend!

Thank you to B.A. Paris, Publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this book! I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, twists, and overall writing. The book kept me on my toes the whole way and it was hard to put it down. Split into two parts, I needed to know what happened with Amelie and why she was abducted after everything she had been through! Also wondering if her husbands name was Jed (referenced on Amazon) or Ned in the book!
