- took me a while to get through
- interesting worldbuilding but takes a while to get settled in the world
- I like that there are really strong and tough women as the key characters
- was just a tough read to get through, idk why

Even after finishing 'The Fifth Season,' I've found myself continuously contemplating not just the story, but also the writing style and the grim world that N.K. Jemisin has crafted. Her approach, which shuns typical exposition dumps, compelled me to re-read parts of the book as my understanding of the world grew and I saw situations and conversations in a new light.

That said, the narrative does require some initial commitment. It wasn't until about 100-150 pages in that I felt captivated by the story. As the story progressed, I became more and more invested, though, and I'm planning on finishing the trilogy.

YES! This book is phenomenal. Where to start. How do I not give away spoilers.
- It's good.
- The entire story is told though 3 views.
- LGBTQI characters.
- Polyamory.
- Characters with phenomenal powers.
- The plot twists are on point.
- The world building is excellent.
- Diversity of races and ethnicities, while being predominantly POC.

To say I am excited about book two is an understatement. I missed my train stops TWICE while reading this.

WOW, this book is a trip! There is sooo much going on and some pretty great twists in here. Jemisin’s mind is incredible, to be able to construct such an intricate story and such an involved premise that feels consistent and solid is beyond me.
For the sake of audiobook, the multiple stories were a bit difficult to track, but when it’s revealed that it’s actually multiple timelines follow a single character, it actually got easier (and sooo much more fun)

I LOVED the rep here too, this fantasy book features so much diversity and different queer representation!! I’m way more intrigued than I thought I would be and am eager to keep reading!
