Essentially a grown up version of Divergent with all the smut. Stay for the vibes and just go with the flow. This is not where you come for profound epiphanies and character development. Things get predictable especially if you've read a lot of YA dystopian novels.

I did enjoy the journey thoroughly. The training montage got tedious after a while, but I'm glad things picked up toward the end.

Spice scale (as defined by Mysterious Galaxy): 🔥🔥🔥 [2 Become 1 – Please refer to the 1996 Spice Girls Hit single for more information.

A generous 3 ⭐️ This has the shell of a dystopian novel without the meat. If you want “no thoughts, just vibes” then you’ll have fun. If you want actual political and social commentary with some grit, you should look elsewhere! I wanted more backstory on the war and the world!! I wanted a more meaningful plot and a sense of urgency to propel the characters forward. I love a slow burn read, but there was a chunk of at least 300 pages where I never felt that our characters were in any *real* danger. So much training with an anticlimactic payoff. The marketing that I saw was misleading- comparing it to The Hunger Games, specifically ‘Katniss for grown-ups’(From Book of The Month). I hate comparing books, but when you advertise that way from the start, I’m gonna comment on it. This is not Katniss
