A fun, magical and joyous approach to the world of dreams, sleep and dreaming! Miye’s ability to create an alternative world using the idea of dreams and sleep is immaculate and beyond amazing! You will be immersed (and impressed) the moment you open the books. Overall a great light-hearted read for those who need light in their lives

What a hard book to review! My experience with it was very uneven.
Here goes:
- It took me some time to get used to the writing style. I genuinely can't tell whether this book is poorly written, or if I'm just not used to reading Korean translations.
- Once I got used to it, I *loved* the book. It's got this great concept of a dream store, it's quite mysterious and fun to discover bit by bit how dreams work, and so on. I also enjoyed the short snippets set in the real world where we saw the influence of dreams on people's actual lives.
- When I got to the middle of the book... It started dragging. No plot, just vibes. Also, I don't get why we had to go toSanta 's house..?
- This is my overall complaint: this book is so short yet all it does is meander. I wouldn't mind if each chapter were a vignette that taught us a little bit more about the dreams or the dreammakers etc, but a lot of the things that happened just seemed to happen for no reason. The bank ordeal (how Penny was robber there ) had zero consequence on anything, and it was only mentioned again in the epilogue. Another example: the author plants the seeds for a romance, and then we never see that person again, they barely get mentioned.
- There's a bit of cognitive dissonance for me between how whimsical the concept is, how the world building is so soft... and the fact that it centers around a business, dealing with orders and payments and trends etc. There was so much talk of sales and marketing, right alongside whimsical stuff like the customers' Eyelids thingies...? And yet the business is always thriving and every dreammaker is kind and Penny never has a single problem. It's like, if you're going to go for whimsy, make it consistent.
I saw one review that said the book keeps you at arm's length and I definitely agree: the reader is very much an outside observer, through our very bland main character Penny. I didn't mind it, but this book is not an engrossing story.
Overall I really enjoyed the concept, but it felt less like a story and more like the author's personal escape pod into a world she liked. I wish there had been a through line. Not sure I'll read the sequel.
