Ana is such a vibrant, strong protagonist, and this story is both heartbreaking and inspiring. The end was disappointing, but in a way that makes it more realistic. Overall a strong story and a compelling plot and narrative style.

This story tells what it was like to be a Dominican immigrant to America and the sacrifices this young women had to make to be able to try to make life better for her family. It also shows the growth in strength for her and how she finds her inner strength and self throughout her journey here the first year.
