It’s a well written memoir, and some of the Pappy related info is interesting, but I think I heard a couple too many people rave about it, because I was expecting more.

Make sure you’ve got a glass of bourbon to sip while you read.

Was fortunate to be gifted this book, because I think I may have overlooked it otherwise which would have been a mistake. What I assumed would be a bit dry but interesting history of one of the well known bourbon names turned out to be a heart touching, contemplative, and romantic story interweaving insights on good liquor, family relationships, the US south, big marketing and corporate’s hold on how we perceive each of those, and ultimately a few intersecting human stories.
We’re done of the stories more flowery and the conclusions more on the nose than necessary? Sure. But it made for a read that really did fly by and make me stop to appreciate the booze, the history, and the human connection that ties it together.
