Read this as this month's theme for my library's "Crime Bubble" was "Children's crime fiction".
It was a fast paced, enjoyable read. Definitely darker themes to the "Famous Five" I read when a child.
Even though aimed at children I was gripped to find out how it all worked out. Highly recommended if you're an adult and you need a break from very dark crime and want something a bit different to usual "cozy crime"

A quick fun read! I read it for a challenge. Outside of my normal genre, but it was short and entertaining.

I have already read and thoroughly enjoyed two of Horowitz’s series; however I had not yet read the diamond brothers’ series as it is aimed at a younger audience. However, while home for Easter I was browsing my sister’s bookshelves for some light reading and came across these books and decided to give then a go.
I am aware that these books are aimed at a younger audience and will therefore not go into the fact that the plot was very simple and the characters rather two-dimensional.
The story itself was fairly interesting; as detective stories go it is always pleasing to be able to figure some things out before the detective. I guessed that
Spoilerthe woman deliberately left the maltesers behind in the office so that when she went back to get them she could do something to enable her to reach the diamonds first.

I found Tim’s character annoying, so was rather pleased that the book focussed on Nick and featured in little of the story. Nick’s character was alright, he has a sense of humour which, while not always funny, was interesting to see the puns that Horowitz had written for him.
This book receives three stars, because while fairly good it is rather below my age category and therefore not as interesting as it could have been if it was instead a book for young adults.

This had a bajillion issues but what I really want to know is this: if the book is set in London, why are all the monetary interactions in bloody dollars? So annoying.

Anthony Horowitz is the first author I can remember actively seeking out to read thanks to this book.

Found in the school library and hammered it cover-to-cover. A fun detective novel, which I guess was some sort of precursor for Alex Ryder.

Wonderfully entertaining little crime story, great characters, plenty of humour. Managed to pack a lot into just a few hundred pages. Will definitely read more of this series.
