Interesting read, very informationl, and well written. My children and I found this book to be very entertaining. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley.

What an AWESOME BOOK. It came about due to scientists being frequently asked "does this animal fart?" This small chapter book answers if 80 different animals fart with scientific knowledge as to how and why. A great book for curious young minds and a very entertaining read.
Be aware that the print is small and is an upper elementary reading level. Therefore, this book would make a better read aloud by an adult than individually by a child. I can see this book as a great option to share during a car ride or while waiting for a table at a restaurant.

What?! A whole book about farts! I am a big fan of potty humor, so of course I jumped at the chance to read this strange book. This was a very humorous, but yet very scientific way of laying out the animals that pass gas and some that don't It has a long list of animals and at times can feel a little "long winded." This book is more of a short squat kind of read and not a cover to cover in one sitting kind, if you get my drift.
I really enjoyed every bit of it and I think my ten year old son will like it too.
I received an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.

A little repetitive, but fun all the same. No penguins, though!

Sure…you may have never wondered this about the animal kingdom…but doesn’t it catch your interest anyway?
Does It Fart? by Dani Rabaiotti and Nick Caruso is a fairly unique zoology text about animal flatulence. Yes, a pair of actual trained zoologists complied this invaluable tome.
The book is divided into dozens of sections…each one consisting of a page or two on an animal, whether they fart, and some interesting elements of their biology that may or may not contribute to this ability.
The book is VERY thorough, covering a large number of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, insects, and other critters. It even expands its entries to include animals that are either extinct (dinosaurs and megalodon) or might not exist (unicorns) by extrapolating what we know about similar animals.
If you are a big fan of useless knowledge such as the Guinness world records, snappy answers for stupid questions, or want some bizarre facts or anecdotes to share with your animal-inclined friends, then I suggest checking out this book.
I do not recall how this even came on my radar…if I read about it or if someone suggested it…

I would definitely recommend this book. While lighthearted and hilarious, I actually learned a lot of interesting stuff—like how koalas can digest eucalyptus in large amounts (that would be deadly to most other creatures) because of microbes in their gut—and that these microbes are passed on to the joeys when the joeys eat their mothers’ feces.

"Does It Fart?" is an excellent gateway into zoology, and uses humor to pivot into fascinating discussions about many animals.
