It is impossible not to get engaged into the story and live the plot from one of the character's eyes.
The narrator makes this experience quite enjoyable by being a really nice voice actress. I could even imagine her making the corresponding facial expressions!
This is a contemporary book about love, fear and family issues we tend to hide from the world and even from ourselves by denying them by using excuses and do not help the situation improve, but worsen.
Everything should go well if you make the right choices and learn to talk and listen: communicate.

What I adored most about this book was the family relationship. It captured the true spirit of Christmas for me in terms of family coming together, forgiveness and hope for the future.
In A Wedding in December Maggie’s dream of a traditional family Christmas at home in Honeysuckle Cottage is ruined when daughter Rosie announces her whirlwind wedding in Colorado. Daughter Katie is determined to stop it, convinced Rosie is making a big mistake. Meanwhile Maggie is desperate to keep her separation from husband Nick a secret for just a little longer.
I could really relate to Maggie - worrying about adult children, putting family first and losing a little of herself in the process, slowly drifting apart from her spouse. Plus the idea of being whisked away from regular Christmas responsibilities would be a dream come true for me. Maggie and I definitely differ in that regard!

This was better than I expected, and was actually an enjoyable read, with a more complex plot and interesting characters than some of Morgan’s other books. The American setting was very cosy and the perfect backdrop for a warm winter chick-lit read.
On the back:
In the snowy perfection of Aspen, the White family gathers for youngest daughter Rosie's whirlwind Christmas wedding.
First to arrive are the bride’s parents, Maggie and Nick. Their daughter’s marriage is a milestone they are determined to celebrate wholeheartedly, but they are hiding a huge secret about their own: they are on the brink of divorce. After living apart for the last six months, the last thing they need is to be trapped together in an irresistibly romantic winter wonderland.
Rosie’s older sister Katie is also dreading the wedding. Worried that impulsive, sweet-hearted Rosie is making a mistake, Katie is determined to save her sister from herself. If only the irritatingly good-looking best man, Jordan, would stop interfering with her plans…
Bride-to-be Rosie loves her fiance but is having serious second thoughts. Except everyone has arrived – how can she tell them she's not sure? As the big day gets closer, and emotions run even higher, this is one White family Christmas none of them will ever forget.
.
.
Rosie calls her family one night to announce she has got engaged and is planning to get married just a few weeks later to someone she has only known a couple of months, at Christmas.
Her parents are living separately but haven't told either of their daughters, so the anxiety of their youngest daughter possibly rushing in to a marriage is doubled by the fact they would have to spend two weeks still pretending they were happily together.
Rosie's sister, Katie, is a doctor who has recently been through a huge trauma. Her only thoughts are getting to Aspen to stop her little sister making a mistake.
Such a good book about family, friendship and trying to keep up a front while everyone is hiding secrets.
A lovely warm, cosy read that gave all the feels of being surrounding by wood cabins and snow.

I inhaled this novel in under 24 hours, it was the perfect cosy story to read on an October morning when the temperature had dropped to - 1! It's a Christmas story but is ultimately about a family, what it takes to make or break a marriage and what happens when we don't open up to the ones we love. I enjoyed it a lot and the rather delicious best man that builds cabins in the mountains and casually saves Katie from a mountain lion definitely helped.
My one criticism would be that some of the characters seemed to become extraordinarily self aware by the end, in a way that didn't feel fully realistic in the time frame of the story. However, I was willing to overlook that in the name of letting the light and cosy wash over me - perhaps an entire family can just have an emotional epiphany at Christmas, it gives me hope!

A really easy read but slightly predictable. Not that this makes it a bad book. It was the perfect way to ease myself back in to my reading journey. Plus I am due to get married in December which is what pulled me in.
