Great stories, but the self-deprecation was a bit much. Really fun read.
emotional inspiring

This was the most i’ve ever cried reading a single book and it was absolutely incredible through each and every tear. This book is so funny and welcoming and full of love.

Honestly I don’t really have any major critiques of this memoir. I listened to it on audiobook. I think most memoirs read by the author are just better that way. I think the title is appropriate. Dave Grohl is a wonderful storyteller. He jumps around a bit, but for the most part tells a linear story of his life and music career. It’s well told and entertaining. He is appropriately serious when necessary, and also hilarious.

Did this audiobook. Mr Grohl has a voice that is not hard to listen to.

I knew nothing about David Grohl until I saw him in a couple of FaceBook videos and was intrigued.
I can honestly say his music is not on any of my playlists but I did go and listen to some of it while I was reading. His music will still not be on any of my playlists. I have nothing negative to say about his music. It is not in my enjoyment zone at this time. Maybe 30-40 years ago when I was a much younger man. He listened to many of the same artists I did back in the day, Kiss, Joan Jett and more but I became my parents a while back and can not really tolerate the heavy stuff any more. Yes it makes me sad.

Mr. Grohl has had quite the adventure of a life. I especially enjoyed his talking of his children and I have total respect for him working the miracle of the Daddy Daughter Dance. If he hasnt scored enough heaven points with that, he never will.

I have heard him speak of the McCartney piano lesson with his daughter before. I was never a Beatles fan but I loved Wings and Paul as a solo artist. That must have been an over the moon experience. One I hope your daughter remembers for a lifetime.

The book itself is not one I rate as good, bad or indifferent. It is the story of his life. It informs us and entertains us. I read it because I am curious about the lives of many entertainers and athletes. I gained knowledge and insight into the man. I cam away satisfied.

Thank you for sharing your story Mr. Grohl.

This was fine. If you find Dave Grohl annoying for all his name dropping, then give this a pass. I assume those people already knew that, though. If you don't mind him, by the end of this you might also be quite fed up with all the name dropping. I know I am.

Edit updated a couple of days after finishing.

Here's some things I thought I would get, but didn't.
-Stories of how he met Pat Smear
-Stories of how he met Taylor Hawkins
-Stories of how he met Jordyn, his wife
-Stories of how he met Paul McCartney, the person he name dropped the most times, by far.

Reading this post-affair. Dave Grohl remains a humble, talented role model for people to look up to. Yall are wrong for canceling him — everyone slips up, Grohl just doesn’t have the luxury of being out of the public eye. Still an icon worth celebrating.
