Dave Grohl is an amazing storyteller and man, what a life he's lived. I love how down to earth he was and how he spent a lot of time praising other artists. Awesome read/listen.

I listened to the audiobook and I was so glad I did, as it was Dave Grohl himself reading it! Made it so much better.
He's definitely a storyteller. I love the Foos & DG.

Best band ever.

Dave Grohl is just a plain awesome guy. Also, his voice was very soothing to listen to. This is everything I want in a rock biography.

I loved this book and especially the audio version read by Dave. The stories he tells are interesting and the story of his life is not what I expected. I loved the themes of family, music and gratitude. So well read by the author which really brought the words to life!

Deserves 6 STARS!
Highly recommend the audiobook - hearing the stories in Dave’s voice adds another level of enjoyment that cannot be overemphasized.
Best line in the book (context - on reading a speech prepared for him to read about The Who at the Kennedy Center Honors): “F*ck, Madeline Albright’s going to think I’m a moron.”

This memoir of sorts of Grohl’s life as a rock n’ roller was much like listening to someone tell stories over a few glasses of wine. Grohl has an easy going, interesting voice and doesn’t ooze the pompous celebrity that he could easily put out given his experiences in the celebrity world. I loved how he spoke of his awe-inspiring and awkward moments.

Published in 2021, the author was still with his wife when this book published. He had yet to have his cheating scandal. I have decided to judge this book on the merits of the storytelling, enjoyment, and structure rather than the man who has fallen some rungs on the ladder from my point of view.

His inclusion of his love for his mother, his difficulties with his father, how he will fly to the ends of the world, literally, for his children, was warming. His stories of being a musical kid, being exposed to jazz at an early age by his mother, playing by ear, collaborations, and music adjacent activities was quite fascinating.
