Penelope Black you have done it again. Quite simply it was awesome. Don’t forget to read The Brotherhood Series first - it is not required but small snippets will make more sense if you do.
I always felt that from reading The Brotherhood series that I knew Maddie. But this novel shows us a deeper side of Maddie - someone who is a little lost, has lived in the shadows and always trying live up to everyone’s expectations of her.
In book 1 of The Five Families Series, we see her character starting to grow. Reaching for things she wants and not just want what she is expected to want.
As expected from The Brotherhood, Matteo features in this book - but who else will star in the reverse harem?? And how - if they are - are they connected? Penelope Black keeps us guessing with her flawless writing skills the whole way through even to the last page. I had gotten so absorbed in the plot the ending snuck up on me in a good way that I didn’t see coming.
Again fabulous writing from Penelope Black, I have throughly enjoyed reading her novels right from her original release and I cannot wait to see what else she comes up with!

It should be illegal how many times they used “I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding” in this book. Wow. Too many plot lines not enough spice to keep me hooked.

I just binged through this and had so much fun I'm about to jump into book 2.
Ngl there were some predictable elements but honestly they just made it more fun...definitely doesn't feel "dark dark" so it'd be a good entry to people just dipping their toes into mafia romances.
