Can we start a petition for all authors to include SOMEWHERE before the book starts that it is a spin-off series of another one? In the summary or in the pages before the story actually brings, maybe? I spent the first 100 pages of this book trying to figure out if I started the wrong book first or if the author was trying to reference/allude to events we would learn about later. Didn't realize until book 3, when I went looking at the author's other work, that I realized there's a while 3-book series that takes place before this series. The first book also progressed a little slower than the rest, but Penelope Black truly is the queen of cliffhangers and by the end of this book I was hooked enough to continue reading.

Brutal cliffhanger

One of the best mystery romance novels I have read in the last few years. I won’t divulge anything so it will remain a surprise for you as much as it was a for me. Perfect plotting, perfect storyline and utterly captivating characters, every single one of them. Layers upon layers of secrets, a most likely backstabbing and an effed up family. Add the insanely hot 4 guys to the mix and you have a recipe for a masterpiece. Thanks but no thanks for the brutal cliffhanger Penelope Black, but I still love ya!

Maddie is on her own and plans to have a summer of fun. But that summer of fun has turned into something she would've been reading out of her books with all the trauma and adventures she's going through. First a mystery man, then a guy at a coffee shop, then running into her ex boyfriend after all these years. But the icing on the cake is her kidnapping and who she calls to save her.

"You live your life with no regrets."

I appreciate that the book wasn’t drawn out. I know it’s a series, but sometimes the first book can be too drawn out by trying to dump all the info into one book making it not as fun to read.
Overall it seems like a good first book and I immediately started reading the second book.

Gilded Princes is reverse harem. It’s also dark mafia romance. This is the first book in the Five Families series. We first meet Maddie in The Brotherhood series. She is Alaina’s cousin. Maddie is following in her cousin footstep. She has only been in love once that was with Matteo. But when they broke up she hasn’t felt the same chemistry or feelings for anyone. Now Matteo is head of the five mafia and Maddie is in danger. And Matteo puts Dante to protect her. Then there is Leo, he is the stranger she meet the coffee shop. And the last guy who Maddie couldn’t resist is Aries are that what he is being called. He is the mystery guy of all her guys. Their journey together has lots of twists and turns. Maddie growth in the book is incredible. But now she founds herself fall for all 4 guys.

Gilded Princess has incredible characters. Penelope Black gives us another great reverse harem story. Even though it ends in a cliffhanger it was definitely a must read book. I can’t wait to read for book 2 in this series.
