"he did a bad thing and he died because of it. mourn him because he's gone, but don't pretend he was anything more than a coward who attacked us."

New characters are introduced; one in particular named Jesus who I think has to be the lamest metaphor that has ever been written. Kirkman’s writing still hurts my brain and for any fans of the show the weakness is Kirkman’s writing becomes even clearer (the show is very well written, fantastic dialogue, believable characters). This volume isn’t the best but it’s not the worst. I feel like this volume was more about setting up things to come rather than telling a story. At the very end Rick gives this long drawn out speech about how now things are going to be different and I just shake my head because I’m pretty sure we’ve heard this about 10 times already, no Rick things won’t be different because if there was not action there would be no story, so stop trying to lure us into a false sense of security we will constantly be waiting for the next show to drop, don’t insult our intelligence. The whole give them hope and then dash their dreams only works so many times, please find something new.

Another filler type volume. This one has a bit of development where we meet other survivors.

Finally starting to get a hint of one of the fandoms most loved characters. It's gonna be good! As always brilliant and beautiful yet gritty artwork that keeps adding more depth to an already fantastic story!
5 out of 5 stars!

The group meets a new community, expanding the universe of The Walking Dead much, much further. This volume ends with hope on the horizon- something that doesn't usually happen in this series.

Rick is suspicious when a new guy who calls himself Jesus approaches the compound looking to build a trade system for food, ammo, and other goods each group might need.
We also meet the new badass in town— Negan, who makes the Governor look like a chump. Negan has been threatening Jesus’s group and stealing their stuff for a while and now Rick has agreed to help Jesus and company take care of these jerks in exchange for goods. But Negan turns out to be a bit more than Rick thinks he can handle. This volume ends with a seriously crazy cliff-hanger.

These latest ones aren't what they were in the beginning but they are still good. There are certain characters I just don't like right now and what they are doing is driving this arc. Makes the story less enjoyable but I get it. Part of the Walking Dead's charm is that their characters are only human.

The long speeches are annoying. Sometimes one is good enough for me to overlook the puffed up self-important tangents. But this book is just plain boring. And the same as the previous books.

This book is my least fave.
