The ability of Robinson to so completely imagine the internal life of a fictional character, including the simultaneous self-deception and awareness of such, is really astounding. This story is beautiful in its simple humanity. If you like Wendell Berry, you will like this. But fair warning, the chapter-less style is unusual, although really well done and effective at conveying the structure of human thought.

Listened to the audio version the second time, which was still great but not quite as good. The poetry of the prose is hard to speak.

Interesting literary style that took a bit of getting use to. Slow and rambling, but with enough gems of gentle wisdom and wistfulness to keep me engaged. A slow build, but worthwhile.
