ok. I really love Samantha Towles books. like really love them. but I have to say I wasn't really impressed with this one. it was a quick read and I enjoyed it but Adam was an ass to Evie and I just didn't like it all that much. granted there was a reason he was like that to her but I still didn't like it. overall quick read and I would definitely read more about these characters if given the opportunity. also can Samantha please right about max. I'm dying to know about him. ok thanks!

Ah this book. I love Samantha Towle books but this one missed it a little for me. I believe it isn't because it is a bad book. Not at all. Its just what I like. I wanted the book to stay in the present because I'm a sucker for angst and the present was just so much more juicy. Every second chapter that was in the past was a slight drag for me. I felt like the past could have been explained in the present instead of having full chapters that go back there. Other than that, the present chapters were awesome and so angsty. Definitely a good read and you must give it a try because my opinion may be different than yours.

tiny spoilers below

it started out really good

i loved how cute adam was in the flashbacks when he first met evie

i also think adam had the most character development which is rare for the guy main character

i thought the secret would be too cliche bc the book seemed better than that but in the end it was the cliche and i was disappointed

i get why evie did what she did but i wish we got more from her character she seemed bland
also wish we got more of her sister since she was a big part of the secret

i did not understand and also did not like how they kept on hooking up while the secret still wasn’t revealed it was so annoying and cringy to me and it made no sense

adam did annoy me in some parts when he was like rahhh im a sex crazy man

i LOVED his relationship w max and that’s when his complexity came out espec regarding his family

i wish we had a more emotional scene of him yelling evie she abandoned him but it was just him being mad instead

also i’m so annoyed we didn’t get a max and evie reunite and talk scene and him saying she broke his best friend slash brothers heart bc we deserved it and they were close friends in the flashbacks.

ehhh

Too much dialogue for me and surface level story telling. Flashbacks provided no benefit to the story. Spice level: 0.5
