Inferno is still my favorite, but this one was a lot of fun. Full review to come.

You know how excited everyone was when the new Indiana Jones movie came out, decades after the trilogy? And then you know how there was a collective "oh" filled with disappointment at the end of that exciting movie? Yeah, that's what I felt about this book. A big collective and disappointed "oh".
Like all Robert Langdon books, it all starts with him getting swept up into an event filled with mystery and symbols that somehow always incorporates a woman half his age in the process. Why do I like these books? I figured out the ending to Inferno about halfway through. And in all fairness, I had an apparently really good inkling about the ending for this one too...though it took me a little more than halfway! Still, I saw that collective "oh" coming and I continued reading, just like I've always continued reading. Because, at the end of it all, these are still exciting stories and I'm sure for anyone who does not have as much background in history, art history, and religious studies as I do would feel entirely different. These stories are entertaining, without a doubt, they are just a little easy for me.
So yeah, I'm still going to give this an small stamp of approval, it was still somewhat original. And at least there were no aliens in the end, I'll hand it to him for that differentiation. Robert Langdon books are like a bad habit, you want to walk away, but they are intriguing and interesting enough to keep you wanting more.

Dan Brown does it again!
Origins poses interesting questions and proposes even more interesting responses in thrilling ride of action, puzzles and intrigue. That's it.

I should really stop reading these books. They aren’t good. I should save myself the time and just read the summaries.

I struggled to finish this one... It's not that it's bad so much as it just kept putting me to sleep. The plot is intriguing (where did we come from, where are we going) but I really missed the 'scavenger hunt' type story lines of Langdon's earlier adventures -- the thrill was totally missing from this one.
