Such a great story, writing too ambitious

I almost returned this. Couldn’t get into it after the intrigue of the first few chapters. But after about half way, I devoured it.

The writing is a major turn off but perhaps necessary for this type of environment. Who am I to say. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone but I think I enjoyed it.
adventurous dark mysterious medium-paced

great set up and some memorable characters but really petered out towards the end

I read this to get out of a reading slump I had found myself in. I am sure happy that I did. How BAD ASS is this sword fighting mute, you might wonder?? Well, let me be the first to tell you - pretty bad ass. Not only that, but he has a baby and a goat. That goat was the saving grace of many pages, oh the humor. I laughed, I felt, and I am refreshed in the reading world again. What a pleasant surprise for a simple enough adventure, yet dark, fantasy that kept me turning pages to see what would happen. Looking forward to the next adventure that continues with Vesper on her own.....
