Enjoyable, but the hero and heroine seemed to waver a lot between finding ways to decide not to be together. It read better as an adventure caper than as a romance; there wasn't a lot of chemistry between them. The ending also felt a little bit like a cop-out -
Spoilerthe heroine's family saves the day, to a certain extent
; it didn't really work as a stand-alone novel.

This is my second re-read that I can remember and I really enjoy this world. A cursing nun is definitely a good sign that adventure is to follow. I actually planned to re-read this series in order but I decided to read this as well as Portia and Bryght's tale at the same time.

I loved the intro but thought this one bogged a little during the road trip.

I tried several times to read this and couldn't get into it. DNF.

I haven't ready any of the other books in this series (though I have read other Jo Beverly books), but after this one I will. There is just the right amount of humor, action, and of course, romance. The leading lady is humorous and immensely likable; the hero has a heart of gold underneath his carefree and slightly foppish exterior. My favorite character may well be his adorable dog whom he obtained to try and get a lady at court, but who now seems to be his loyal companion. For all the complaining his does of his two wards (the dog and Petra) he cares for both. Quite a fun, quick read.
