I found the main character frustrating. The middle of the book dragged but the ending was fantastic. I will continue the series as I want to see what happens next and the plot is interesting.

FMC got even more annoying. A petulant child who lacks impulse control, self awareness and common sense. No main character should be this slow on the uptake either. Also, everything was so repetitive and predictable.

Still waiting for someone to put a blade through Henri for the love of god. Luther, Taran, and Eleanor carried this.

I enjoyed this book’s expansion of the world and myth building from the first novel. For the most part, I loved the new characters that we were introduced to, especially Taran and Eleanor. There were some additions I did not like (for example: Ileana was cartoonishly evil and not interesting as a “villain” at all. She was merely annoying). I did find myself at times to be very frustrated with Diem’s poor decision-making, but the other characters made continuing the book worthwhile.

Oooh, this was fun! I love, love, LOVE the found family in this book—this little group is so precious and they make my heart so happy! Taran is giving me Cassian x Ridoc vibes and I’m here for it. The flip-flop slow burn had me twitching at times, but Luther is *chef’s kiss* so I hope Diem gets things figured out in the next book.

Personally, I liked Glow more than Spark. I appreciated that this book had more magic, more power-hungry politics, more messy relationships, more world-building, and even more slow burn. This was really enjoyable, even if the FMC had some moments that made me want to toss my book across the room. Diving into book 3 as soon as I can!

Ahhhhh!!!!
I love how this book picked up immediately after Spark finished. That made it feel more like a movie, which was enjoyable.
Character growth and progression in this book was wonderful. Sometimes predictable? Sure. But really enjoyable and well done.
The story proceeded as was obvious that it would, but there were definitely a few surprises along the way.
The slow burn 🙌

5⭐️3🌶

I'm absolutely in LOVE with this series. I bow down to Penn Cole's ability to write a slow burn. This whole series has me in a choke hold! I was supposed to be doing other things this past week, but all I did was sneak in reading time.

Diem is struggling to find her power and herself in this new life she's found herself in. She is floundering between her new life with the Descended and her old life with the Mortals, and they're pulling her in different directions.

Luther is showing himself more and more, but he continues to keep secrets from her, and she can't fulling trust him until he reveals everything he's kept from her.

Henri is no longer the boy she grew up with, but she desperately wants to keep her promises to him. She doesn't feel the same way about him that she does Luther, however.

The  20 Descended Houses are breathing down her throat, and each of them want to manipulate her for their own gains and turn her to their own political views.

This series is ALL sexual tension, world building, political intrigue, and finding oneself. I can't get enough. I'm so excited for the next one!
