Also Luther betraying her would definitely make the series more interesting but I'm glad he didn't.
The incest twins was a,,,, unique touch
The ending was not a surprise at all. The moment Henri mentioned the leader of the Guardians in the first book I assumed it was Lorelai considering she was both gone AND one of few characters we had met at that point that would cause an appropriate amount of shock value. Henri needs to be murdered. Preferably by Diem. Amen.

I read this book in 24 hours. It definitely keeps moving, even if some of that movement is around in circles. There were multiple times I put the book down due to frustration or anxious anticipation, but I always picked it back up ready to see what happened next.
There were probably two things that kept this from being a five star read for me. One was Diem, the POV character. I realize this is an intentional choice, but she was so frustrating to read. Sometimes I wanted to smack her upside the head and make her actually think through her actions and the actions of the people around her.
The other thing I think held this book back from being for me how much information was given to me in a way where it felt like Diem also should have known it. I love guessing plot twists, but when other characters in the book have also guessed the twist and are trying to tell Diem, and she won’t listen to them, that was frustrating to me. It felt obvious instead of earned, and I want to earn it damn it!
That being said, I will definitely be continuing with this series! Here’s hoping we get a release date for book four soon, because Heat of the Everflame is high up on my TBR.
Thank you to Atria and NetGalley, for the ARC and the opportunity to leave an honest, voluntary review.

“Burn, my Queen. Glow so bright, the darkness trembles.”
“If a kiss is the reward, my Queen, I'll get on my knees for you whenever you want.”
------------------------------------------------
Oh my goodness this book! Now I understand the hype! Glow of the Everflame had me hooked right from the beginning. I could NOT put it down! Picking up right where book one left off, we are thrust right back into the action of the plot. I will not say too much, as this book is in an ongoing series, and I don't want to spoil anything. However, I loved the plot development and character growth shown in this novel.
The characters in this book went through so much in such a short period of time. I continued to find the fmc, Diem, strong and courageous, though we did see more vulnerable parts of her in this book as she did go through more emotionally. Luther, was more present in this novel, and I was here for it! He continued to be the most amazing, walking green flag I've ever seen. And his banter... WOOF 🥵! Henri. Well, I do not even know what to say about him. I find him to be selfish and unobservant. He continued to think only of himself and what he can gain from certain situations.
The side characters in this book were top notch! I absolutely loved Taran, Eleanor, Lily, Teller, and Alixe.
I am so excited about this series that I immediately have to dive into book 3.

Language, low spice, adult content, battle, assault, violence
Moderate: Cursing, Sexual content, Violence
I was very close to not finishing this book. I thought the first book was decent but the first 60% of this book was a complete and total drag. I feel like a good hundred to 200 pages could’ve been removed. The end of the book make up for it though. I’ll probably read the next one.
