The Grimms, Mr Canis and Mr. Hamstead take Puck to the faerie people of New York City to receive help for his mortal wounds. While, there they become caught up in solving the death of King Oberon, and find out that Veronica Grimm was deeply involved with (and loved by) the Ever-After community in the City.

This is super cute! I liked hearing about the fairy tales living in the parts of New York I know well. :)

The awesome things about this book:
1. Murder mystery, New York City, and fairy tale characters.
2. The title. Like seriously it kills me with punny cuteness.
3. Puck. Also Puck and Sabrina.
4. Fairy tale characters in turf wars, the Great and Terrible Oz, and a certain, really big mechanical green someone.
5. We finally get the arc where we deal with SSabrina wanting things to go back to the way they were and it’s perfect.
Basically I’m still having a ton of fun with these books and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Love how the fairy tale characters are real people and the development of the Grimm Sisters (they are developing and growing as characters so they morph and change in each book).

I had read this book when I was younger and I really enjoyed it.

When I reread it, I loved it even more because I understood more of the jokes and fairy tale creatures.

There’s nothing more I can really say. This series is nostalgic for me and it will always have a soft spot for it.

I mainly skimmed to the parts I liked but it was still really enjoyable.

“Once Upon a Crime” is another clever addition to Michael Buckley’s “The Sisters Grimm Series.”

This was one of my favourite middle grade series growing up and I’m so excited to revisit it as an adult to see how it holds up. The book is just as whimsical as I remembered, taking the classic fairytales and turning them on their heads.

“Once Upon a Crime” is a good book but definitely has middle book syndrome. Although there’s still a mystery that’s resolved in this book, it’s clear the fourth book is really meant to provide more information about Sabrina and Daphne’s parents and set some things up for the bigger plot lines of what happened to their parents and who is the Scarlet Hand.
