Frantic by Sara Fields

I've decided that Sara Fields could write any type of story and do no wrong. I have loved everything I have read by her even though they are all so different. This is her jump into the Omegaverse world and she does a fantastic job. Her characters have every characteristic that make this such a fun trope. There is the instant attraction, the submission that is impossible to resist, the heat, the nesting, the anger about being an Omega that turns into this passion that can't be denied... If you have experienced any of these stories you know what I'm talking about, and if you haven't then you really need to.
This story is a sequel to Frenzy but it's also a stand alone, for the most part, and you could enjoy it even if you haven't read Frenzy first. It focuses on Triss getting the punishment she deserves and the men who find her. Yeah, that's all I'm giving away about the plot. I'm just going to say that it is hot and messy.
The pace of this one is a little bit fast, it's not a very long story, but I didn't find it lacking in any way. There were plenty of sexy scenes, a well written plot line, and enjoyable characters. I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series.

Well the spice really spiced, so there’s that.

First off, the story had the bones and meat for much more than a little novella, so I wish the author had expanded it into a full sized novel.

I think what bothers me about this series is how the omegas are completely stripped of any agency. I know it is written that submission is embedded in their DNA. But it’s hard to believe that the FMCs, who are all really strong, intelligent and independent women, just submit to their alphas with very little resistance.

Also, I still had a hard time empathizing with Triss after what she did to Raven. Even with her transformation into a freedom fighter, she never reflected on how her actions impacted Raven - only how they impacted herself.

Not sure if I’ll end up reading the final book in the series. I will say it’s very well written which makes me want to look up more books by the author.

4.5 omegaverse stars

I loved the first one but this one was darker. One time villain redemption, science experiment, D/s, scheming, prison settings… ah it has a lot.

It’s a quick smutty read and it is so good for a book that is short. Things progress quickly. The smut scenes

The problems I had with the first book, specifically serious dub and non con content, are still present in this book. This book however, has a fun plot! Subterfuge, the desire to overthrow a city. Super fun compelling story.

When I finished this story I was a little confused. It seemed like there was something that happened before this book but I couldn't see that it was part of a series. It certainly made sense as a stand-alone story but, at the same time, it felt like it was part of something bigger.

I wasn't wrong. Apparently, Frantic is a stand-alone story but happens in the same world as other stories so it becomes an interwoven thing. Before this book was Frenzy, which I did not read, so just as information, you should check it out if you're interested in what happens as a whole in this world created by Sara Fields.

Triss is bound outside of the city to let the wild alphas get their way with her. The need she feels is painful and all-consuming. Three alphas arrived and take care of her, only to be captured by the same scientific community that Triss was working for. I won't say more about this because... spoilers.

This is not my first Sara Fields book and I have to say I'm still happy to have picked this one up, no matter the confusing thoughts at times. She writes so well and her stories are always interesting. She also tends to make you fall in love or at least very interested in her characters within each book in a way that you want to know more.

A steamy book as always and I loved those parts. I don't know how she does it but the scenes were sexy times occurs between characters are always so hot that you have to get something to bring down the heat later on.

If you like stories about dystopian worlds or futuristic situations with a lot of steam in them, you may want to give Sara Fields books a go *smile*

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I enjoyed this book & look forward to finding out what happens next in this world. This is definitely an adult book but what happens is part of the world where it happens.
