I like the characters, well some of them I hated but I think the reader was supposed to hate them. I was invested in their story and what would happen but this book didn’t do it for me. After the initial kidnapping attempt that brings Bailey to meet her biological father, nothing really happens until the last 3 chapters. Also, as much as I like Bailey and was invested/rooting for her…I wish she was stronger. She’s supposed to be a genius but Kash has to tell her everything about her “families” motivations. She is supposed to be stronger and stubborn but she’s also crying and doing what everyone wants. I’d love to see her come into her own and be a BOSS BABE!

I think I wanted to get more dialogue between Kash and Bailey. More of their relationship (the flirty texts, the “romance”). I wanted more of her genius IQ, hacking, working with her father. I wanted more development of the relationships between her and her new family. I also have a lot of questions about her mother…that woman is a little crazy!

Basically, I just wanted more. Which is why I probably will still be reading the rest of the trilogy…

Baileys life is turned upside down when a kidnapping attempt reveals that everything she thought she knew is wrong. The person she idolized all her life is actually her father, she has siblings, a frosty stepmother and she is no longer safe. Forced unto hiding with the family she does now know, she struggles. Except when she is around Kash. Her protector. The one who makes her heart beat faster. Or a computer where she can do what she does best. A great start to a new series. Captivating. Intense. Hot. Secrets on top of secrets. Thrilling. It's got it all. I cannot wait for the next part! It's left me with a definite hangover and an intense need to have the next one in my hand!!

I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read! I loved the characters and the romance. I really enjoyed the family dynamics throughout. The story was fast paced, and I was instantly gripped from the very beginning. The ending wasn't what I was expecting. This was my first book from this author and it won't be my last. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Tijan takes us into a whole new world unlike any she has ever written with The Insiders. This book is captivating from the very first paragraph, where we are thrown into a world of intrigue. The pace is set fast, which held me, hostage until the last page, where I kept clicking in hopes more would appear.

This story takes me back to the original Tijan, who writes quirky characters who come into their own with an Alpha male character steeped in mystery. This book takes the time to introduce us to the myriad of characters the heroine interacts with and setting up what I envision to be an epic storyline that will continue through the rest of the series.

Bailey has some quirks that make her wonderfully unique but still slightly immature in social settings. Kash is rough around the edges and keeps EVERYTHING about his life close to the vest, while Bailey is an open book. Bailey brings out a softer, more caring side in Kash while he is helping her learn how to handle more serious situations.

The characters are a little older than what we have come to expect from Tijan, along with a whole new story arc, unlike anything we have seen yet. This is a slightly more mature voice we haven't really seen from Tijan as this world needs to be navigated from a more adult place. This may throw off some readers. I love that Tijan is stretching her boundaries and enjoy this new, more mature voice. I will be anxiously awaiting book two even though book one doesn't come out until May.

Bailey is your typical teenage girl, other than her genius IQ and computer skills, she is nothing special. After some men break into her house in the night and try to kidnap her, Baileys life is suddenly thrown upside down. The man she believed was her father, really isn't and the man she's always idolized in the tech world is.

To keep her safe Bailey agrees to go to the estate where her three half siblings live. However she is to keep her identity secret from everyone there except for the gorgeous man named Kash in charge of her protection.

Soon Bailey gets a look at how the other half lives and the kind of life she would have had if her father had been in it. With the bad guys still looking for her, Bailey must now navigate this new world and try not to get lost in the world of the insiders.

I was so excited for this story because I love Tijans writing style, but this story was so much better than I even expected. The story keeps building in an interesting way where you never know what is going to happen next or who is involved in anything. I didn't see any of the major twists coming and that's always a good story for me. The variety of characters made the story what it was. It's a fast pace that makes it hard to put down.

I received a copy through netgalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Okay...I’m hooked and waiting for a second book! Is that happening?

What really got me is the story line! It is suspenseful and has some HOT scenes! It was fun to have a main female character that is a computer programmer. There was suspense from multiple angles: the danger the main character was in from someone wanting her dead, the sexual tension between her and another character, the relationship with her father...there is a lot going on to keep you hooked.

I will say that there are parts of the story where wording or description felt off, cringe-y, or just felt like the wrong word was used on accident. There were parts that I felt like I had to re-read because of the flow of the sentencing, making character conversations confusing.

HOWEVER I am pretty sure the copy I read wasn’t the final edit. Obsessed with this one and I would love to see this story as a movie. If you are a fan of suspense and romance, here is your next read!

3.5⭐ rounded up.

Featuring ~ single 1st person POV, attempted abduction, slow burn, minimal steamage, cliffhanger

I've heard a lot about this trilogy, so I was excited to finally dive in. I'm not new to reading Tijan's work, so I am familiar with her writing style. I liked this one well enough, but I think I ruined it by listening and not reading. I am going to read the next two just to be safe because I want to love them.

Bailey had no clue that the billionaire tech genius, Peter Francis, is her father until after there was an attempt to abduct her. Now she has siblings she didn't know existed and is being protected by the men her father employs at his estate.

Kash takes a special interest in protecting Bailey. And quite the protector he is. As these two are spending day after day together their attraction to each other eventually grows. It was a bit of a slow burn and wasn't overly steamy once they got together.

Although, Emma Galvin did a fine job narrating for 11 hours and 5 minutes, I do feel like I would have preferred to read this one.

There's a bit of a cliffhanger, so be aware of that. I wasn't overly in love with this one, but I look forward to see where the rest of the series goes. As I write this the average rating is 4.21 stars so obviously it's very well liked by many. In fact, the whole series is very highly rated.
