This sequel to The Lorax really slaps.

An excellent read - even though the premise is sad, there are bits that are absolutely hilarious.

Such an entertaining read. Most of these animals I heard about for the first time…the kakapo, banji and the remote environments where the author trekked to find them. Told with a rousing gallows humor, of embarking on travel to the remotest of places.

Douglas Adams and a naturalist go visiting places of the world with endangered to just about extinct animals to get their last chance to see them, one in 1985, and most 1987-1989.
Fun, and highly worrisome because of how much worse the situation has gotten, but somehow a bit dated.

What? Douglas Adams wrote a non-fiction book? Yes!
He gave a lecture on it shortly before his death and it had a huge impact on me when I saw it. It's an hour and a half long, but if you're a Douglas Adams fan, I promise you it's worth watching.
He starts out explaining how it is he came to even be writing this book in the first place and why it's his favorite that he's written and why he thinks it's important. It's one of the most powerful speeches I've ever seen.
"We don't have the save the world. The world's fine. What we have to be concerned about is whether or not the world we live in will be capable of sustaining us in it."
