This book introduced me to my favorite animal (the kakapo), and makes the most compelling argument in favor of species preservation I've seen. Whether you're a fan of Douglas Adams or just in the market for outstanding nature writing, Last Chance To See is worth reading.

Fun book and mostly positive and humorous about a fairly sad topic. Descriptions of places visited are understandably a bit dated now. I was able to read this in both Bill Bryson’s voice or in Peter Jones’s voice.
