To my surprised, the second book was even better than the first. With a lot more magic, characters developments, twists and revelations, I was really more invested in the story, and liked how it turns out.
The second book continue right where the first one ends. But the important difference is that there is a lot more things going on. Without saying too much, this book brings as much answers than it brings new questions.
There is also a lot more magical elements. While there was a taste of it on the first book, it really unfurled in the second. It was sometimes even a bit creepy, with some form of eldritch horror to it, which gave a creepy atmosphere.
I love the characters. Having a bit more development and background on their stories, was a good thing. They are all interesting in their own way, with different levels of complexity.
I love the turns of event toward the end, and I am excited to read the final installment of this amazing trilogy.

I was obsessed with this book until I was absolutely not. The final quarter just got absolutely tedious.

I tried my damnedest. I truly did. I even wasted a few hours of audio time on Spotify to find that groove everyone is giving 4 and 5 stars. The audio really did help, but it couldn't beat that boredom bus to a halt.
I had the same problem with the first book, and it seems to be worse with this one. Wish I could see what all you fans see. Bummer.

This series continues to impress! While the beginning meanders a bit (second book in a trilogy syndrome), the last 150 pages are so good it hurts. Amazing imagination, freaky horror, dark magic, and all the fantasy politics and machinations you could want.
