The author:
*sets this up for people to be either Team Jack or Team Cameron*
Me:
fuck it I'm Team Sean the Plumber !!

I really do think there was a missed connection between Jess(h) and the guy who came to fix the sink. He's from the rough side of NYC, but compared to all the white collar men in the book, he had the sweetest intentions IMO. He saw the hurt that Jess was hiding and all he wanted was to make the girl happy. (And honestly, not that important but my baby is not only a plumber, he's also Sean the Paramedic. But of course, as soon as he crosses into the nicer parts of NYC to work on a plumbing job, people treat him like he's beneath them).

Sadly, the best potential love interest wasn't offered as one of the options, so we get to choose between Jack the Cheating Husband or Cameron the Old College Friend.

First half of the book:
This was my favorite part of the book. Here the focus was entirely on Jack. Don't get me wrong, I don't give a flying fuck about Jack, but the angst and pain from the cheating??? So good. My heart was all twisted up reading about Jess' realization that her loving husband is actually a cheating piece of shit.

And then it twisted up even more when she decided to give him a second chance only to catch him cheating on her AGAIN a few months later. Like whew I almost reached into my phone to throttle Jack's fucking throat.

At the end though, I just wanted to know why Jack did what he did. There's absolutely no question that he's in love with the h. So why would a guy who is THAT in love with his wife do the shit that he did?? Especially after he got caught and swore up and down on Jesus' name that he would never make that mistake again??

Either way, once a cheater always a cheater, but I wanted a confrontation between them instead of her just running away.

...or at least just text him a long ass paragraph bitching him out. Call me toxic cuz yes I am.

Second half of the book:
Not much to say here because I was fighting sleep the whole time. This whole second part could've been shortened by half.

Here, the focus was on Cameron after he bumps into her while she was running away from Jack. Cam was really sweet and I liked him a lot at first, but by the end of the book he became almost a carbon copy of Jack. Both super alpha, super virile, super controlling. The only difference is Cam didn't cheat on her.

I was bored out of my mind, and Jess' constant inner monologue about the breakdown of her marriage and trust was honestly too much. Like girl you are the baddest bitch, tell Jack to go fuck himself and then find you a hotter, more loyal man... someone like Sean yenno.

There's still 2 more books after this but I'm giving up, the reviews are not looking pretty.

Nope.

I know before I started reading this it was about a husband cheating on his wife. What I did not know is that the cheater is also a dominant asshole who is sure he can fuck himself into his wife’s heart again by forcing her to do things she doesn’t really want (not that the girl has any backbone of herself, no, she’s a walking wet dishrag).

And when she finally gets away from that cheating jackass she runs into the arms of another guy who, while fucking her, sounds and acts exactly like her husband. He says the same things, he wants the same things and they get it on in exactly the same way.

It was extremely weird and disturbing. So, nope.

Enjoyed reading this...especially the thought processes...seems real!

Rating: 4.5

I have had this book on my tablet for a few months. I think I purchased it on sale because i liked the blurb but never started it. Now I have started this...wow!! This book is an interesting read.

Enter the Black Oak is intense, dark and the emotions felt while reading this will have you on edge of your seat. The couple - Jack and Jess started out so loving and happy. It felt like nothing could be spoil this jam since they were so devoted to each other, until pages into the story we realize that Jack is cheater!

Jess is obviously devastated that her husband has ruined their marriage. What follows makes this story all the more interesting....the emotions, her thought process, the way Jack behaves, her interactions with a former friend Cameron, her interactions with others in the story after this blow to her mental and social health. I loved how she wanted to try fighting for her marriage but the way Jack behaves, made me want to knock him out so many times.

Cameron...hmmmm...he is so very interesting!! He surprised me in more ways than one! I hope there is so much more to their developing relationship.

Enter the Black Oak is well written and I will be reading the rest of the series!

Reasons I enjoyed this book:

Entertaining, Page-turner, Realistic, Twisted, Wonderful characters, Steamy

This was so good! Ugh!

I've been in a slump ever since reading The Ravenhood Duet, and luckily this book came to me at the right time!

I love cheating trope, despite the fact that everyone seems to hate it, because it makes for some good drama. Thankfully this did not hold out! This book hits the ball rolling and doesn't waste any time, which I loved. I can tell from the carefully placed easter eggs that this has potential to become one of my favorite series! Need to get my hands on the next book!

Wow. Just wow. When I bought this book, which I learnt about via a Facebook recommendation, never could I anticipate the thrill it would be to read it. I have read hundreds of stories of this genre right when the market was flooded with them. I thought I had read it all. Boy was I wrong. This story did more than hold my attention. It gripped me completely, had me breathless in awe, excitement, fear and trepidation. This is stage 5, cling on to the edge of you seat reading. I was mesmirised my the characters. The main male characters are complicated, secretive, passionate, gorgeous men that are not afraid of their desires, or how they get them. The leading guy is unapologetically dominant and does anything to get what he wants. The leading lady is no pushover, but is a character I find that doesn't give up on what she believes in and will fight for those she gives her heart to. She was frustrating but tenacious. And she had balls.

This story will not be for everyone. The author warns you of what is in the content of this book. She does not lie. She does not sugar coat it. What she warns you about is exactly what you will get. What you won't know until you give this story a go, is the emotional and ragged rollercoaster ride you will be taken on. Swept away by this intriguing cast and the breathtaking storyline. I am telling you, you must really try this story. It has every single emotion you could possibly experience crammed into a few hundred pages. It will leave you gasping for breath and desperate for more. I usually stay away from trilogies until the last book is released, but I simply had to read this book. The second instalment will be worth the agonising wait I am sure.

So glad I cam across this new author. Cannot wait for the next book in this trilogy. Eternally grateful that I got the chance to read Enter the Black Oak. 5 ginormous stars.
