This doesn't really get much into the cosmic horror that Lovecraft is famous for, but it's interesting nonetheless. I'm not sure I'd recommend Lovecraft in a non-historical sense (he's pretty racist, and it comes out in some of his work) as I'm not fully on board with death-of-the-author theory, but if you're going to read him, this is a pretty accessible intro.
