ew. i've read fanfictions better than this. would be one star except for despite being bad it was a breath of fresh air from the typical romance novel layout of not dating -> dating -> oh no! we've broken up! -> back together again, so that adds a star back onto the rating. and everyone loves male groveling so ig that adds a half star. so uh 2 1/2 stars for this monstrosity. also who tf names their kid sterling?

Sara Ney...

Whoa. Like... whoa.

If you're a fan of her Douchebag series and you think Jock Row is going to be anything like that... guess again. The only thing they have in common is that the Hero is an athlete.

Throw away any other assumptions you have about this book.

Rowdy and Scarlett have catapulted into my top 5 book couples.

What starter as a d*ck move at a party... ended up being the beginning of something really unique and special.

I don't want to go into too many details because I went in fairly blind and enjoyed the story immensely.

The one thing I will say is that there is no formulaic storytelling here. If you are expecting something to happen, prepare to be surprised.

Jock Row is a homerun!

Sara Ney has a true talent for taking one's assumptions and turning them on their head. Go ahead and judge the characters by their covers because Sara will show you that there's more to them than their pretty packaging. Scarlett is entertaining and funny, but also extremely awkward, which made me relate to her a lot. Rowdy is sweet and sexy an an incredible book boyfriend. I loved reading the interactions between these two and of course I laughed, which always enhances the experience of a romance book and causes readers to swoon that much more. I'm ready for the next book in the Jock Hard series!

Rowdy is a hotshot baseball player at his college and Scarlett is the cockblocker who just wants to protect her friends from the slimy players trying to hit on them. Rowdy gets tasked to "babysit" Scarlett so that his friends can hook up with her friends without any obstacles.

And this book was SO cute! It was fun and fluffy and exactly what I needed to start off my New Year. It was a slow-burn romance built on a quirky friendship and it was a delight to read.

Rowdy is the captain of the baseball team and he is not used to girls saying no to him, or anyone for that matter. In walks Scarlett who is sassy and witty. She sees right through all the boy's shenanigans. However, week after week (at the baseball house parties), her relationship with Rowdy sprouts. Their chemistry is unmatched and I fell in love with these characters!

Also, there is no third-act break up (or much of a conflict at all) so I think this would be the perfect book if you want a quick and cute read!

This was an okay read.
I really enjoyed the beginning and the banter between Scarlett and Rowdy. I also love the way they met. It was interesting.
When they started making out I got bored. The second half of the book was them trying to see if the other person wants to be in a relationship together. So there wasn’t really any plot for the second half. Just them wanting to be together and sleep together.

Talk about a refreshing read! Jock Row was exactly what I needed. I had been in a bit of a reading slump when I picked it up and I was instantly sucked into this story (much to my relief)! Honestly, reading this book felt like a breath of fresh air. I'm so used to unnecessary and often-times frustrating drama and angst in contemporary reads but this one had none of that! It was a sweet, fun, and relaxing book to sit down with and made me excited to see what else I can read by this author!

The characters in this were both so sweet and so caring and so mature. It was a lovely change to have two characters who weren't constantly causing problems with each other because they didn't communicate well or they jumped to conclusions. Both Scarlett and Rowdy were very honest with each other and clearly devoted to staying with each other once they had moved from being just friends to being more. Seeing a couple who actually had a healthy relationship was amazing.

Scarlett and Rowdy also had a sloooooow burn romance. And I loved it. Their relationship took its time developing from strangers to friends to more. It was lovely to witness and gave me all sorts of fluttery, happy feels. Everything felt so much more gratifying once they got together.

Jock Row was an amazing, refreshing read. This is one of the best romances I've read this year -- I loved the lack of unnecessary drama and the maturity and openness of the two leads. While I haven't read anything else by Sara Ney, I definitely plan to check out her other works!

“What the hell could he possibly want?
And why is he so damn handsome?”
