Diana Clarke's debut novel is incredible. I do not mean that it's a perfect book: some metaphors were a bit repetitive, she's not always subtle and she tries maybe to talk about too many things without always having the time to go as deep as I'd want to. But God if this didn't become one of my favorite book.
The book was sometimes a bit too triggering, especially since I listened to it as an audio book. However the reason it was this triggering is because it is such a good description of what ED will do to your body, to your brain, to your family, to your life.
During the whole story, I was rooting for every single character to recover, to find peace. This book made me cry, made me laugh, helped me heal, and it will stay on my mind for a long time.

What a heavy book. Not an easy read, but still a very good one. This novel explores so many different types of relationships, healthy and unhealthy. Relationships with food, sisters, friends, partners, etc. I will be thinking of this one for a bit. 4.5 out of 5
2.5 stars. I wanted to read this as it appeared on a fiction list of books depicting cult like behaviors. There were no cult behaviors. I’m on the fence of thinking it glorifies earring disorders, which, I can’t endorse a book that does this. It should come with a trigger warning. Too many heavy and deep diet culture concepts without enough discussion or resolution. As a fiction book, it seemed the first 3/4 was the introduction and the last 1/4 was the story. It was over before it really started. If there were a sequel coming, that’d be the book I wished was this one.

TW: Eating Disorder, abuse
After I finished this book, I sat down for a dinner with my husband and ate the tofu tacos that he made and I even had a second one, and I didn't break down or refuse to eat, or take one bite before saying I was full, and I didn't cry.
This book was perfect and terrifying. I first heard of it when I was just starting my recovery for my eating disorder, and I knew that it would have to wait. I officially exited therapy for ED after 2 years in it. On my one year anniversary of being in recovery, I booked myself a boudoir shoot with my wedding photographer (shout out to MaryBell). For my two year anniversary, I read this book. Both were huge leaps. Both made me proud of myself.
Also, Diana Clarke can write the shit out of trauma. 5 (very distraught) stars!
