I loved the bits where the characters respond to the Disney movie adaptation of "The Princess Diaries." I found the opening chunk in Genovia a bit tedious, and did not for a minute believe that
Mia's anti-patriarchal artist mom would ever have the take that Jane Eyre was too hard on "poor Mr. Rochester." .

started off boring, got good at the end

It honestly sucks that Princess in Love was so good that I said it could be the end of the series, because Princess in Waiting is bad. It's all about Mia second-guessing herself and saying that she's not worthy of love - a complete reversal of all the character development she just had. I also don't know if I like Clarisse better in the movies because she's played by Julie Andrews, or because she doesn't do things like try to set Mia up romantically with her cousin.
