So so so cute, very well written. Awesome chemistry between them the whole time, really rich side characters and world.
2 sex scenes (plus a bonus chapter that is another sex scene on the KU version, idk if there’s another version)

Stella's dream of owning a Christmas Tree farm has come true, but things aren't going as smoothly as she'd envisioned. With new problems and financial woes popping up daily, Stella enters a contest hosted by a popular social media influencer in an attempt to save the farm. She hopes the farm will gain some much needed publicity, and knows winning the $100 000 cash prize will go a long way. There's just one issue, on the application she said she owned the farm with her boyfriend. and there's no boyfriend.

In an attempt to save face, Stella enlists the help of her best friend Luka.

So much has been said about this book, that there isn't a whole lot that I can add. But I will say it deserves all of the love! Lovelight Farms was the feel-good escape that I needed.

The idyllic setting, the relatable characters, the delightful banter, the sweet moments, the endearing friendship, the chosen family, the slow building sexual tension, the ideal supporting cast - everything was just so well done. It's hard to believe this was a debut!

I cannot put into words how much I loved the quaint small town Christmas tree farm setting. It created all of the cozy fall/winter vibes, and definitely made me want to visit. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention Beckett, the ideal book boyfriend!

The fake dating trope is typically my least favourite, but it plays an integral part to this story and B.K. Borison has done a wonderful job in developing both Stella and Luka that it ends up working quite well.

This book solidified my love for small town romances and the friends-to-lovers trope. It had an overall good story and definitely blew away any expectations I had. I cannot wait to read the follow up In the Weeds.

Stella and Luka’s whole friends-to-lovers situation was so cute and pure. They were supportive and gentle with each other, which pulled at my heart strings. And the narrator! Pippa Jayne has a soft, husky voice, perfect for a spicy romcom.

I also loved Stella’s colleagues, who were really like found family, and made me feel connected to the larger cast of characters. I can’t wait for In the Weeds, Evelyn and Beckett’s love story. I mean, who doesn’t like a kitten daddy main character?

That being said, the constant miscommunication from the main character made me feel frustrated the entire novel and took me out of the story. And I didn’t feel like   I got enough of Luka’s personality to be as invested as I would’ve liked to have been in their romance. All in all this was a sweet book, but didn’t really blow me away.

Read this if you like:
  • friends-to-lovers
  • faking dating
  • small-town romance
  • workplace setting

Just a heads up this one is mostly set during November, so this is better suited for a Fall read rather than a Winter one for those seasonal readers/planned tbr-ers.

Thanks Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for this advanced listening copy.

Friends to lovers has always and probably will always be my favourite trope and it's because I find books like these. The level of tenderness, care, understated love and affection, and all that ushy gushy nonsense that is infused in every page of this book is what I LIVE for in romances.

Stella and Luka have ten years of history of being friends, supporting each other, and everyone around them knows that they're in love with each other except these two buffoons refuse to see it. Idiots to lovers at it's finest. The catalyst for their romance is Stella lying about having a boyfriend on her application to have her Christmas tree farm featured on a small business influencer's page. So she asks Luka to step in so she doesn't have to come clean about lying.

Now this book is limited to just Stella's POV and you'd think that what we get is Stella pining while Luka is proceeding in business as usual best friends fashion. OH NO. NOOOOOOO. What we get is Stella missing neon light billboard sized signs that Luka is as gone for her as she is for him, maybe more. It's not even frustrating, it's just funny. The slow reveal of their history and significant moments  alongside their current timeline of time spent together rife with tension was done so perfectly. All their significant moments layer together so perfectly.

The introduction to the small town in which Lovelight Farms is situated was also so incredibly done. You'd think that spending time on building a small town community worth caring about would take from the time dedicated to the romance but nope. It's all just perfect. You're invested in the town so early that it's easy to tell exactly who is up next for a romance in this series. I know it won't go on forever but my god do I want every single fool in this town to have a love story written. It's just so soft.

Friends-to-lovers done BEAUTIFULLY! Highlights include a fake-dating trope, a cast of supporting characters you will fall for instantly, small town vibes, and Christmas! The characters have depth and go through journeys of personal growth that have you relating to and cheering for them. Humour is effortlessly woven into both the dialogue the first person, single POV narration of Stella (a.k.a La La 😍).
I will never look at grilled cheese the same.
I cannot WAIT to read Beckett’s story!
