I finally got to read Forget Me Not by Sarah Eden! It was wonderful!
The beginning is so tense and emotional you long for things to be set right. The story grips you from the first page.
Eden is gifted in developing deep characters you love despite their flaws. I loved seeing Mater before she became Mater!
When all the Gents came together you can feel the closeness and the relationships between the men is incredible. Seriously, they are so fun! I don’t want to give things away... so I’ll just say their banter, games and plans are fun. Pretty sure I was grinning half the book.
Lucas was frustrating at many points but I truly feel he loves Julia! For life throwing itself at them like it has, they grew lots in a short time and from knowing the other books... the overcame lots of obstacles and raised some amazing boys!
If you haven’t read any of the Jonquil series do it ASAP! This is the prequel to that and the start of a new series that I look forward to reading!

Lucas and Julia aren't strangers to heartbreaking loss, as children they have faced it all together; but then Lucas leaves on his grand adventure and Julia is left to patch her broken heart alone. When Lucas returns eight years later they are both shocked to see each other again, especially when their parents force them to quickly marry! Is their past friendship all they have together or do they have a chance at more?

You know a book is special when you're smiling about it hours after you've finished it!

Just when I thought my heart would break over the Jonquil series coming to an end, we get "The Gents Series" as a loving gift from Sarah Eden. This book as everything you've come to expect from her books, humor, wit, love, heartbreak, storylines that keep you turning pages until you start panicking that its almost over, and all the feelings. This wasn't the story I was expecting for Lucas and Julia, it was so much more!

Forget Me Not has been in my TBR pile for an embarrassingly long time. I finally picked it up yesterday when my other books weren’t able to hold my interest and ended up devouring the entire thing.

As a staunch supporter of the Jonquil brothers, it was delightful to read their parents story. It was so interesting to get to know Julia in her youth, before she became “Mater” to her sons. It was also wonderful to finally meet Lucas Jonquil.

In addition to her wonderful characters and story lines, I adore Sarah’s extensive knowledge of historical fashion. This is the first book I have read set in the Georgian Era and I thought it was so interesting to read about panniers and the other styles of the time.

Wow, do I have a lot of feelings about this book. Firstly, let me say that Sarah M Eden is probably my favorite author, and this was another strong book from her, even though I was a little annoyed that she was starting a new series before finishing the current Jonquil books.

That being said, my biggest complaint about this book is that it is resolved too quickly. I really didn't like Lucas through the majority of this book, I felt him an idiot, I thought he overlooked many things and then just said he didn't understand why things were the way they were, and even though in his POVs he was constantly saying how he loved Julia, how he treasured her, how he wanted her happy and with him, his actions when he wasn't entirely focused on her said the exact opposite. And then, he has this big moment where he promises to always be whatever she needs, and he's forgiven.... what?

I love how very rarely in Eden's book is the "miscommunication" trope used and I love that it's not used in this book, but the very fact that it's not miscommunication just makes me so mad.

I love Julia, her character and feelings just hit me right and I literally cried tears for her when Lucas did his dumb travel speech.

I'm just sad I didn't meet the Lucas Jonquil from his son's books.

Also, BABY ADAM. I loved getting to see little Adam. Precious, adorable, perfect.

And I am very much looking forward to the other Gents books.

I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Forget Me Not is, as far as I understand, a prequel to Sarah M. Eden’s most popular series, the Jonquil Brothers, which I haven’t read, although I’ve gotten some hints about the role these characters play in that series that has me curious to try them.

However, as a story in its own right, it’s fairly charming, dealing with the complex emotions between Lucas and Julia years after he has broken her heart and left her in the midst of their mutual losses, and now returned. I rooted for him to win her over, not just because their parents expect them to marry and honor the contract between the families, but because the emotions between them felt genuine.

I also liked that it was just as much about his group of friends and the role they play in assisting in the courtship, a trend I hope continues over the course of the series.

This was a sweet and fun historical romance that really swept me away. If you love the genre and are looking for one with as strong a focus on friendship as romance, I recommend this one.

This was my first book by this author. I was looking forward to reading a book set in the 1700's and I have heard good things about this author.
This book has a light feel to it. I was really put off by the heroine for the first half of the book, then things got better. Then I was put off by the hero.......I really didn't like how the book was resolved. I felt like based on the actions of both parties I just didn't feel the love. This is a clean historical romance.
It was a sweet story if you are looking for a less then serious romance. It just left me feeling "meh" nothing bad , just okay.
I recieved a copy of this book from the publisher through Netgally all of my opinions are completely my own.

My first book by Sarah M. Eden, and definitely not the last. Absolutely made me cry and I loved it! Most of the conflict between Julia and Lucas stems from miscommunication/misunderstanding, but it happens in a way that makes sense for both characters and the development of their relationship. There's a lot of angst and heartbreak, but it doesn't come across as manufactured for extra drama.

This is the first book in a series about a group of friends, the Gents, and Eden did a great job introducing the rest of the Gents and giving them an important role to play without reading like blatant sequel bait. I'm sure I'll read the next one when it comes out, but first I want to read the previous series about Julia and Lucas' children.
