This was my first read from the author and it was a great introduction. Even though I would say this was a slow paced book I really enjoyed it. I liked that we were meandering through the narrator’s memories and leading up to the “big finish”.

3.5/5: This book is a slow burn and not what I expected at all and it left me feeling uneasy. It’s more discomforting than it is scary or anything else. It did not meet my expectations for how excited I was for this to come out but it didn’t exactly fail to meet them either. The author’s note that depression was a core theme drastically improved my opinion of it after thinking about the book through that lens. A re-read at some point will be necessary. I like the combination of the screen play and the protagonist narrative, and I already think it might be fun to read this again from just one first and then the other.

There is an irony in listening to the audiobook version of a book narrated by a character narrating his own audiobook. I did enjoy this one! I think it could have been pushed a bit more for a book literally titled Horror Movie. The ending was great.

I love Paul Tremblay, but this one just didn’t do it for me.

Okay this actually slayed (no pun intended) 10/10 would recommend listening to in audio book format though.
The narration and voice acting was amazing and the novel feels like it is meant to be read aloud to get the full effect.
Pleasantly surprised, well played Paul

I liked the way the story was told (different timelines, table read of a script) and it definitely kept my attention, but the ending felt so weird to me.
