I think i found a new fav author.
While other may find this over the top, I absolutely love the “you’re the love of my life” trope. And pair it with hockey? And not just a little bit, but lots and lots of good hockey scenes in between the romance? Yep, this is everything. I love this 💛

This has become one of my all time comfort reads. Morgan is a pro-hockey player facing a trade to the cellar dwelling team the Outlaws. He moves to Boulder with the plan to play out his year contract then retire to Key West. But when he gets there he finds a team of broken men barely surviving their abusive captain and blind management. He sweeps in to clean house and happens to fall immediately for Shea. Their relationship builds with the team despite trying to keep it from happening. The emotions are deep and the revelations are painful. But I loved every part of it.

tal really deserves jail time for this for what he put me through. my life is in RUINS after this book.

this was even better than gravity, which i didn't think was possible. the team dynamics in his hockey romances are always my favorite part - he does such a good job of capturing the team together during the highs and the lows. this was much more emotional than gravity (which, again, i didn't think was possible) and dealt with more heavier topics that were handled so well. the way they healed together, the found family...my god. if there's any writer out there who can make me feel every possible emotion under the sun, it's tal.

i can’t even think about shea and moogs without fucking bursting into tears. this was beautiful, heartwarming, gut wrenching, incredible, stunning, iconic, and EVERYTHING. i really need to take weeks to process this. a fucking MASTERPIECE.

First 5-Star read of 2023

I’m not someone who is drawn to sportsball (IRL or in fictional form) at all, and admittedly “Gravity” sat on my TBR since it was released because of how much I adored “You and Me” but I let the hockey theme hold me back from reading (note: “Gravity” was a strong 4-star IMO.) However, once “The Rest Of The Story” released, people were quick to recommend it as a must-read — they were right.

Yes, this book is sports themed but it is so much more than that. The depth to the characters and the humanity they embody is breathtaking. When an author takes the time to create characters with depth of vulnerability, strengths, success, and struggles, is when the story that is woven can come to a life of its own. Tal Bauer has done precisely that, once again.

I'm so impressed that on my third re-read this is just as engrossing as on the first two reads. I literally don't want to do anything else but read this book.

Just as good the second time around and I loved Brody and Lawson’s novellas.
